I'm glad the one credit card I ever used to purchase something off PSN has long since been canceled. Still, this is quite disconcerting. I can't believe the sheer quantity of personal information that has been compromised in one fell swoop. It makes me extremely uncomfortable.

Considering that I am a Playstation Network member and was once a Playstation Gamer Advisory Panel member who has had an account with Sony for years, I am extremely annoyed at their lack of telling me ANYTHING about this. I haven't received the information from their blog in any fashion. My PSN registered email account is devoid of anything but advertisements from Sony.

EDIT: I realize that informing their customers via email could be difficult given the situation. My main frustration is that Sony should have come out and said that your information could have been compromised days ago. Also, they do owe their customers an apology and I hope they have the sense to issue one.

Sony (much like any other corporation) really CAN'T apologize here, because it would be like admitting guilt. You'll see a lot of blame being pushed around, a lot of responsibility not being taken, the usual. Not just limited to Sony, even though they are becoming quite the punching bag lately.

Considering how much PSP/PS3 content I've purchased, I'd like to have a definitive answer on whether or not I should be getting issued a new CC.

HOWEVER -- I'm much more concerned with the personal information breach. Everything from my name, address, date of birth .. all the info they have on file?

Still kind of mentally numb over this. I have no accounts or card tied to PSN other than whatever Netflix is tied to. And even that may have been compromised so I will be changing that info. I'm pretty sure most of my information on my PSN account is false but I won't know for sure until I log in. I'm almost certain that my password for PSN is unique so it shouldn't lead to any other account access. Catastrophic FUCK UPS like this are the very reason I DON'T tie my credit card or bank account info to online services if I can help it.

This is so fucking bad. Even if CC info was not compromised, the amount of personal information potentially stolen is far worse. Good luck to everyone.

I don't know what to think right now. The sheer incompetence and insensitivity on Sony's part makes my head spin. They possibly knew about this on the 17th or 19th and we are just now finding out about it? Jesus Christ. I doubt I will be buying another Sony product.

I'm making the assumption that 'they' do. It's just safer that way. Fortunately I am moving to a new town so I was able to just update my information - that should prevent the supposed 'them' from using my info to purchase things online.

I think it's time I join sides with the Niode/Inazuma anti-Sony stance. And this is coming from a long-time Sony customer/advocate. The way Sony is handling this doesn't sit right with me, but I would expect the same apathy/inevitable excuses from other large corporations. It's the fact that Sony's security allowed for so much to be compromised at once that really irks me.

I'm fairly certain I didn't put any of my real info onto my PSN account, but I did give them my credit card information. I'm considering getting a new card now, but it's not like whoever did this is going to drain every single PSN user's bank account.
