I don't see how not buying from someone who doesn't sell what you want is in any way an extreme viewpoint.

As the article said, this doesn't mean that HL2E3 won't be happening. It could be they add in an optional multiplayer where somebody controls Alyx or Barney to help another person advance through the campaign.

What gets me is people screaming how Valve is now ruined and comparing them to Activision. Idiots.

Opinions on the internet are pretty much always extremes. Everything is either the best ever or so awful it should be considered a crime.

Well a much more moderate approach would be to wait for these not-yet-existing-yet-already-boycotted-games to materialize or even be announced before making up your mind. Y'know, evaluate them as they come out.

Companies say a lot of BS about their 'direction' or 'plans for the future' that don't always pan out.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Hopefully Episode 3 will be the last entry in the long-winded Half Life saga. Valve are taking the piss with their customers but they've always been like that.

Beyond Valve it's been quite annoying that this is the general direction the entire industry has taken this generation, so if they're going all out on this path too that's kind of a bummer. It's honestly kind of funny how oddly excited I get when I hear about games that won't be having multiplayer, co-op, or anything like that. Thank you Ken Levine and Bioshock Infinite, etc.

Also kudos to the few before who actually know a campaign for Unreal exists. Kind of a shame all the Tournament games overshadow such a fantastic campaign, one of the best I've played.

Now if we don't hear about HL2EP3 or HL3 whatever this year, then I will poop on Valve too.

The only thing I've made up my mind about is that I personally don't have any interest in games mainly geared towards multi-player. I haven't called for a boycott or anything. If Valve decides to keep making single player games, then I'll happily evaluate them for purchase. My statement that I'm "probably done with valve" is to be taken with exactly the same amount of certainty that Valve intended their "probably done with single-player" statement to have.

If Valve makes the likes of Left for Dead 1 and 2 at the expense of Half Life 3 in the future, I'll boycott them. I resent that they'd do that.
