Sad. The DS Lite was one of Nintendo's best systems ever. I guess it couldn't go on forever though.

Re: DS Lite to be discontinued?
ds lite is the best of the non 3d ds's mainly due to the fact that its gba compatible.

Had to happen sooner or later I'm afraid. Hell, there were times when I used my DS for GBA games more than actual DS games.noiseredux wrote:and with that, the GBA is officially dead.BoringSupreez wrote:http://www.gamespot.com/news/6309939.ht ... Btitle%3B5

End of an era.
...Dude, you're within spitting distance of 10,000 posts. I wonder if there's gonna be some y2k thing. Maybe the system can't count past 9999. Scary.

DS lite was the best DS by far. Oh well, 3DS is here now, and it isn't like you cannot play a DS lite anymore (unlike DLC)

Re: DS Lite to be discontinued?
As a matter of fact I dropped my original DS and cracked the top screen after owning it for several months. I used it strictly for GBA games from that point on. I've since gotten another original DS, as the number of updated handhelds Nintendo was putting out was beyond my means of affording them. I'm not surprised this is happening though, what with the 3DS and Project Cafe going on. Nintendo has to limit the past so they can use 3DS profits to float them into the future, when their next console gets released.CFFJR wrote:Had to happen sooner or later I'm afraid. I was thinking the same thing. Time to start watching the clearance racks.Inazuma wrote:Looks like it may be time for me to buy a DS Lite.

Kind of the opposite happened to me, I don't know how it happened but after one night of taking my DS Lite over to a friends to show off Tactics Ogre a bit, I went home only to see that the bottom touch screen was completely jacked up. It got worse by the day and it's pretty much screwed now, luckily the top screen still works though so I can play GBA games that way.Ack wrote:As a matter of fact I dropped my original DS and cracked the top screen after owning it for several months. I wonder if this'll mean DS Lite's will be more expensive via ebay now or what? They seem pretty dirt cheap sometimes, I was probably going to get a replacement and or eventually try my hand at replacing the touch screen on my broken one.
I still need to get a GBA SP or something too for GB Color games. I only have this broken DS Lite now and an old GB pocket.
Re: DS Lite to be discontinued?
Damn. It looks like it's long since been discontinued in Japan. I can't find a DS Lite anywhere. I checked 3 different online stores and also Ebay. Actually, there was ONE on ebay but it was Pink. I am really amazed at how hard it is to find them.
When it comes to handheld systems, I prefer to buy them new. If I buy them used, they tend to have scratches on the screen.

Nevermind. I found a nice one.
