It's too bad that those won't protect against surges at this point anymore. So you'd be paying $100 for just a fancy multiplier.

Powersquid is deffinately a great solution to this problem. But if you aren't on the market for a new strip altogether, may I suggest the powerstrip liberator?

If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?

Oh, those are nice. More space AND and an outlet doubler.

Something about doubling power outlets on that scale makes me nervous (turning a 6 outlet strip into a 12), but if I could cut down my current 3 power strips to 1 or 2 it would make things much easier.

Unless you play your systems daily I'd recommend keeping those big power bricks unplugged for when they are not in use if you have easy access to them. They build up a lot of heat even when idle and I'm sure draw some power. Plus having live stuff build up that much heat already adds to the probably fire hazard that is the back of my entertainment center.

This is just my opinion as someone who's nervous about this kinda of stuff, I also have a lot of power bricks :)

It doesn't matter how many things are plugged into one outlet, it matters how many of them are running at one time (and how many amps each draws). Since you only need one console on at a time, it make sense to have them all hooked up to one power strip. I literally have 15 consoles plugged into daisy chained power strips, a big CRT tv, Stereo, VCR, DTV box and a lamp plugged into one outlet. I'm not worried about it, since I only turn on the ones I need.

This setup also helps with your leakage current worries. Keep all your consoles plugged into one power strip, and you can turn off the power to all of them with a single flip of a switch. Not only does it reduce the power draw from AC adaptors, but it also much better protection than any surge protector.

Buy as many as you need.

This may not be a problem, but when I connected my beast, I separated the 3 bricks onto 3 different surge protectors since they all are pulling current at the same time. My setup consists of this:

then I just bought surge protectors from Monoprice and connected them to my six outlet adapter. I think I have four connected right now.

Unfortunately, those don't have the extra outlet like the ones avrame posted. Definitely cheap though.

Also, I'm not sure splitting them between surge protectors is the best idea. If anything, that increases the number of paths a surge could take to reach your equipment.

I just soldered a daisy chain onto a laptop power brick that had the correct voltage to power both Sega CD and Genesis. A more powerful one could power all three
