Re: Austin, TX Racketboy members' meet ups
Awesome. Now all we need is a guaranteed-to-work method to get SORR running on a CRT TV (or at least a really big display) and we are in business. Oh we need a date and place, too.
I also have 4 Genesis controllers. 2 standard, one official SEGA released turbo & one official 6 button.

Until Game Over kicks us out, I see their store as the most cost-effective choice. It's free and it already has TVs available. (I say "free", but I intend to shop while I'm there. I think we all realize that we can't be complete leeches.) Pinballz feels more like the "after-party" venue. Why spend money on an empty room when you can buy tokens instead? Plus, as I've said before, I'm concerned that people would not stay in the rented room but rather go out into the main arcade....in which case, why rent the room?wip3outguy7 wrote: Oh we need a date and place, too.
Please, I would like to hear other opinions on the meet-up place. Does anyone have another place in mind? Does anyone have different ideas about Game Over and Pinballz?

Pinballz is a good joint, had a work party there and they let us bring a 12 pack and all they asked was that we don't put any bottles on the machines, that we use the many cup holders spread around. Still have about $40 of tokens left from that. (Scammed the extras as everyone was leaving)
Now as for places, how many people are we talking here? Might be able to get game over in on a tourney with enough people. They love that sorta stuff. BTW, when is this get together? Need to look at my really tight schedule.

Yeah, I'm totally cool with Game Over. My special project at work has been extended so Saturdays and Sundays are open for me for at least another month. Game Over tends to like us coming in on Sundays. Just let me know when is good for you guys and I will send an email to David.

phaedrus and I have been talking about putting together a Virtual On tourney for months now. But our work schedules have been pretty inconsistent and we haven't gotten enough people to say yes.Zandengoff wrote:Now as for places, how many people are we talking here? As far as holding the Streets of Rage thing, Redline's right. Game Over is free and already has several large CRT TVs available for us to play on. So we should bank on that for now and do Pinz or even UFO afterward.
Re: Austin, TX Racketboy members' meet ups
Have they fixed the seat adjustment on the left "cockpit" of the Virtual On machine? It was stuck way far back, which is not helpful if you aren't over six feet tall. It's a good thing the game doesn't utilize pedals; I would have to strap blocks to my feet.wip3outguy7 wrote:phaedrus and I have been talking about putting together a Virtual On tourney for months now.
