I have an original Gameboy (DMG-01, phillips screws holding the case together) that I dug up. I recall that I left some batteries in it for YEARS and it leaked all inside the Gameboy. After some failed attempts to cleaning (to the point of almost rusting the insides), I just put it aside and never messed with it again. That was years ago.
Just recently I brought it out just to mess with it. Lo and behold, the sucker still worked! Albeit the mainboard part (not the board attached to the screen) is semi corroded, it still runs games just fine. But the screen yields blank white horizontal lines in the middle of the screen.
I've tried matter of searches, but it only gives me results for vertical line fixes, not horizontal lines. It seems to be getting worse, too, with 2 lines just going out not to long ago.
Anyone know of a fix for horizontal lines on a DMG? Thanks for any help!

Re: Original Gameboy Screen help
I saw a guide for repairing missing lines in screens both vertical and horizontal from 8-bit collective's forums (or linked from there). The fix involved either a heat-gun, soldering-iron or a combination of both along with pressure to the affected area to the point that nearly the whole screen turns black. A query in their guides or gameboy section should get you some more information or a link. I had a gameboy given to me with a similar problem to yours (corrosion and all) that I couldn't permanently fix using the guide (I stopped after the screen started smoking). I had cardboard shoved in the spot on the screen that was affected (my own idea) but my fix started crapping out soon after the screen returned to room temperature. I only use that gameboy for secondary lsdj sync'd through a link cable now. Wish I could be more help, but it's been a while since I read it.
