Useful tip: English is the most spoken language in Europe. Just cause it is the native language, doesn't mean the others can't understand you
In the world.
I believe Mandarin Chinese is, actually.
English is the number one second language in the world. It is spoken in more countries, by a greater variety of ethnicities, than every other language.
Mandarin Chinese is the number one first language in the world.
i went to mexico for a family trip to cancun once over spring break. it was more of a revenge trip as my dad just took my sister and i since my parents just split up. it kinda sucked. the cool parts were seeing the structures at chichen itza and attempting to scuba dive and the beautiful, blue ocean. the sucky parts were eating at places like the hard rock cafe and buying chinsy tourist shit. it was okay though.
i went to europe with an old band i was in on tour, which was awesome but also kind of sucked. we were there for 30 days and played like, 12 shows or something because the guy who booked the tour didn't really do a very good job and didn't tell us about it until the night of our first show. we had a lot of time off in germany watching band of brothers, 24, futurama and lord of the rings. it was alright. we spent the majority of the time in germany (erfurt, weimar, berlin, some other cities i don't remember) but we had a weekend at fluff fest in the czech republic (which was the coolest part of the trip), and we went to poland for some fest and another really tiny show. it was a lot of fun but we drove a lot in a crowded van. the best part of the tour was heading out for a couple of days on my own with a band from brazil called Colligere who were in Germany at the same time. we met up again with my band when we played a show together somewhere, but the shows Colligere played were a lot cooler than the ones we played. they did a dag nasty cover and i sang it and it ruled.
it is 7:41am and i haven't been to bed yet so i'm sorry that i kinda rambled.
um....they didn't offend me exactly .... they were talking about me in a good way . And of course if I was alone, or with a friend (instead of my sister and mother) I'd talk to them.
They were also trying to find our ethnicity and they thought we were Spanish. How they'd mistake Greek for Spanish......

I've actually been to Mexico as well, twice...but once was for a church mission trip forever ago and the other time was Cancun. I don't really count either of those as going out of the country though, since for the mission trip we stayed in Texas near the border and drove over to Mexico each day...and Cancun is such a tourist trap it might as well be America. Although if you go much inland from the peninsula that stuff starts to tone down.

I figure this it's slightly relevant to post where we are from. I'm from Florida, traveled up and down this state many times.
As for as leaving the country, I've only ever been to Paris. Took a week and a half trip to go visit a girlfriend who was studying abroad there two years ago. It was absolutely awesome. I cannot begin to say how much I enjoyed my time in the city. I instantly fell in love with the metropolitan feel of the city.
My girlfriend would go to class and I would go get purposely lost on the metro system and just ride to various parts of the city. It amazes me that such public transportation exists. Considering that I'm living in Orlando, FL at the moment. You can't go anywhere without massive amounts of traffic and development.
The open air markets were amazing. Being able to walk outside of the apartment and get fresh meat and vegetables and breads was great. The wine was cheap.
Anyways, I just loved it. I'll be graduating from UCF this summer so I hope to be able to travel much more in the coming years. One of my good friends spent a half a year living in Chile and speaks very highly of it. I'm thinking South America would be very cool place to live. I'm currently running through two trips in my mind. I'd either like to make a tour of the National Parks in the United States, or I'd like to make an Erenst Hemingway world tour.
Africa, Michigan, Spain, Italy, Cuba, etc.
Here is a photo from Paris.

That sounds awesome! France is definitely somewhere I want to see. It's a very cool country. As far as Europe goes I'd REALLY like to visit Sweden, apparently a lot of the population can speak English there as well which is convenient for a lazy American such as myself. =P
What I've wanted to travel to most of all is Japan, but due to the current state of the country I don't I will be doing that anytime soon. But I have plans to travel there with my best friend in a couple years. I just really love the culture there.
