Beer is cheap. I got wasted on Qingdao for almost no money. The only place cheaper to drink would be Manila, in my experience. You just want to make sure you discriminate enough to avoid getting knock off swill. 'Zhi yao zhong guo ren xiang he de pi jiu' is a good phrase to remember to avoid getting scummy brew.

The girls are kind of disappointing. I was never one for cat houses as is (STD's scared me more than they scared most of my ship mates - they were the ones lining up to see the hospital corpsman in the morning, though) but even the regular Chinese ladies were kind of hit and miss. And it wasn't like I was in Monkey Ass province or something like that. This was Qingdao, not too far from Beijing. Then again, I never developed the yellow fever like some dudes so maybe my standards for Asian ladies are too high.

The food is good but the same rule applies to it as does the booze - learn a little chinese and avoid getting treated like a yang gui zi. Otherwise you'll get the gout and hate life.

The air quality sucks. The Chinese are not paying much attention to their environment in their desperate bid to catch up to the West. I'm not sure if they're thinking this one through...

Chinese merchants are crafty as all get out. If you feel like you might be getting ripped off, you probably are. But if you don't speak Chinese, your chances of haggling are nil. You'll just come off as a whiny tourist. So just look for a passing police man and ask him to help you shop. You'll get bad ass prices that way.

The night life is not bad at all.

To be honest, I only visited the main land once. I am much more familiar with Hong Kong - and that's a totally different animal.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

The only foreign country I've ever been to is Canada, Ontario specifically. Spent the night at a campground, then left the next morning. I have been to like 30 of the US states though.

Pretty much. I find that Quebec and the deep American south are the most different. Everything else is pretty similar.

I've been to most major places from Vancouver, Canada, to Montreal, Canada. I haven't been to the far north or east coast of Canada. I've bee to the US northern border states from Montana to NY state (just upstate around Buffalo), and a few others like South Dakota (Sturgis!), Wyoming, etc. And also central Florida (take a guess why...).

So:

Canada
USA
Japan (most major places from Fukuoka to Nikko)
South Korea (most major places except Gwangju, if anyone considers that major :D )
China (Beijing (Great Wall, yay!), Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou)
Hong Kong (airport...)
Taiwan (Taipei airport...)
Thailand
Indonesia (Bali)

That's it! Just North America and a bunch of Asia. Japan is awesome. China is amazing, but also crazy and pretty dirty (Flake's description is dead on, IMO). These two countries are must visits, IMO.

South Korea is really under-rated. I absolutely love that country. There aren't a lot of "must see" places, but it's fairly western in its standards, very safe, overall very clean (not Japan clean, but still clean), has great food, is easy to travel around with lots of English service and, best of all, is not overrun with tourists and panderers catering to tourists like in China or Thailand!

Cooool. Thank you!

As an aside, I think I'd appreciate the women, but I guess I've always had a touch of the "yellow fever". Despite that though, I married a white as white gets blond girl. How about that?

You know, you're not the first person I've heard say that Hong Kong is completely different from China itself.

OK then. I have a short story for you.

When I went to Greece I was about 12-14 years old. I had recently gone through puberty so I had a lot of interest in girls and sex. The beaches that we went to in Greece were topless, which was really amazing for me. However, there was a problem. Being a young boy surrounded by beautiful bare breasts would cause me to get random uncontrollable erections. I didn't want other people to notice, especially my family, so I would run into the water and just stay there for a while until things had calmed down. -_-;;

Haha, the first time I went to spain I was about 13 myself. Seeing topless girls on the beach was like the most amazing thing ever. I didn't even have the internet back then, if you get my drift, so it was a real luxury XD
