(FIXED) pal Gamecube with pal Free Loader = Green screen?

Post by d123456 »

I bought this PAL gamecube on ebay. It´s with a Digital AV out.
To illustrate

At about the 0:20 mark right when the gamecube logo disappears the screen goes green.
(That is not my video by the way)
WTF!

Situation: My US Gamecube plays just fine on my PAL tv
So it is not the tv

I tried loading it through the system menu, that also didn´t work, also green (system menu works fine btw)

I tried with both the Component cable as well as the composite cable. Both have the same result. (The green screen with the component cable is obviously a better picture quality 8) )
Is it broken? I cannot test with another game since I have no gamecube PAL games, only Japanese and US. I tried googling, but could not find anything.
I feel like an idiot right now. In General what does a green screen mean?
I don´t think this system has been modded, since the memory cards hold some really wack ass games, like spongebob squarepants.

Let me rephrase that: What does a green screen mean?
First the bouncy Gamecube logo in full color and after that: screen goes green.
This is a bumpaloid

How does the PAL Free Loader come into play? Are you using it to force the US/J games to PAL?

I think the games you're choosing are not compatible to be forced to PAL mode is my guess. I suggest buying a PAL original game to verify this.

Thanks for the reply.
Well, before I even get to put in a US/J game, the screen goes green. I never get to the Free loader main menu. I should buy a PAL game or maybe I should just mod my US cube to play Japanese games and sell this 2nd Gamecube and Free loader. seems like a waste of space and money!

Turns out it was probably the reset button that was stuck.
But how that causes a green screen is beyond me.
Well, for future reference. Check the reset button, if it´s jamed or pressed somehow.
I installed the cube behind my tv so it is out of sight, but today took it out to take a better look at the situation and voila.

Glad to hear that you solved your issue.

In any case, it's always good to have at least one original game to verify issues like this to make sure it's not due to burning/mod chips/unauthorized discs/etc/
