College Level Game Descriptions

Post by Flake »

Thinking about video games + writing term papers + not sleeping = this.

Game descriptions your professor would be proud of:

Final Fantasy VII: An interactive essay on the conflict between excessive privatization of the means of production and a grass roots reform movement in a world wrought with resource scarcity, ineffective governance, and a highly under developed inter-city transit system.

Super Mario Bros. : A hypothetical scenario involving an Italian-American contractor, his brother and his love interest as he attempts to traverse the chaos left in the wake of a failed monarchy. Also, turtles.

Street Fighter II: An example of globalization at its finest: A multi-national cadre of athletes struggling against one another to determine which is the best candidate to single handedly reform a corrupt rogue government in Thailand.

Super Metroid: A futuristic spelunking simulator where protagonist Samus Aran explores an underground, alien world.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I'd re-buy SMB if it came with a box with that title on it.

Donkey Kong: An analysis of the conflict of human-simian relations in the post-Jurassic period and the Freudian symbolism of hammers and barrels in an oedipal struggle between our evolutionary primate fathers and their human offspring.

Dig Dug: An examination of the use of new air pump technology in the fields of geological terraforming and dragon popping.

Centipede: An anthropological and entymological study on the use of fungal growth and archery as medieval forms of pesticide used in the extermination of bifurcating chilopods and bouncing arachnids.

Sonic the Hedgehog (series) : An anthropomorphic hedgehog quests to rescue enslaved animal species from a rogue anthropologist. Themes explored range from the environmental cost of population growth to the lack of value one places on ones friends when one has too many.

Double Dragon: A re-telling of 'West Side Story' against an apocalyptic back-drop minus the catchy musical numbers. A heavy emphasis on props.

Metal Gear Solid: A look at the prisoners dilemma facing nuclear states in a post bi-polar world. An operative for the United States government investigates a terroristic disruption in a remote military facility and uncovers a bizarre plot involving advanced technology, nuclear war heads, ninjitsu practitioners and a T-Rex with lasers.

Metal Gear Solid 2: An experiment by a popular and successful game designer to test the audiences ability to suspend their disbelief by applying, seemingly at random, a variety of plot devices and characters archetypes deliberately juxtaposed together with no conscious forethought. Also themes of inadvertent homosexuality.
