I bought an FC twin console from a garage sale and it turns out it didnt work. The kid told me he bough it a year ago and never played it. When i put on nes or snes games, i get the same result which is gray lines along with a loud humming noise.
Any ideas what it could be? I want to learn how to fix consoles and stuff like that so ill try anything!

Start by opening it up and look for anything obvious that's toast. Main things to check capacitors and the power mosfet.

I should have mentioned I'm completely new to this stuff, how can I tell if they are ruined? I've opened it up and made sure nothing was loose already

you can try posting over at famicom world. maybe someone there can point you in the right direction. If not, let me know if you want to sell it. I'd be happy to take it off your hands. I'm looking for one to pick up for display purposes.
