Re: Neo Geo MVS 4 slot Help
KEEP THE CRT!!!!
Seriously, google "k7000 cap kit". Performing this may solve your monitor's picture issues. Except for the burn-in. Replacement speakers are like $10 shipped. The headphone jack is easily replaceable. the memory card slot is the hardest thing to find, and even that's not too tough. Check the forums at neo-geo.com.

Re: Neo Geo MVS 4 slot Help
After getting a better look at it and noticing it wasn't burn in, just blurriness, if all it needs is some maintenance and adjustment, I'm definitely gonna try to keep the CRT.
I've been reading up on Monitor Potentiometer locations and adjustments and might try that next time I go "visit" the machine to see if I can't get the picture any better with those.

Glad you are keeping the CRT.
I also see a Chrono Trigger shirt there - very nice indeed.

Re: Neo Geo MVS 4 slot Help
great deal. please DONT put an LCD in that thing. it won't be right at all. Stick with CRT, however, if there is NO burn-in, you replacing the monitor capacitors using a Cap Kit you can get online will most likely solve your problems. Also highly recommend replacing the joysticks and all buttons with iL Eurojoysticks and Happ Convex buttons. You can get all these parts very cheap from http://www.lizardlick.com and they are so easy to replace. Best thing you can do to have that thing playing like new.
It's too bad somebody painted the cab black.. but if you were to eventually re-paint it and put the Neo Geo MVS decals back on, that wouldn't be so difficult either. Those 4 slot MVS cabs are great.

Re: Neo Geo MVS 4 slot Help
So can anyone give me some advice on where to locate the latches for the control panel? I want to get at the miniature monitor adjustment board underneath it to try and resolve the picture issues, but I'm afraid to stick my hand any further up near the monitor chassis.
Re: Neo Geo MVS 4 slot Help
You should have found the control panel latches when you did this. Maybe I am not understanding the question right? My monitor adjustments are on the back of my monitor, I am not lucky enough to have the small board in front of my cab.robbievgb wrote: We successfully hooked the board back up and played some metal slug 4.
Re: Neo Geo MVS 4 slot Help
Here's the back of my monitor with the adjustment pots, these ones you see are only for RGB adjustments though
According to this manual, there should be a second set of adjustment knobs on the board itself. My Monitor is definitely the Original Wells Gardner k7000, I confirmed this by checking some of the other markings and stickers on the monitor board. It's possible it could be the Zenith variant though.

Anyway, where there should be six more adjustment knobs (according to the manual) there are wires. From what I've researched these can lead to a "remote control board" mounted under the monitor under control panel (where the buttons and joystick are installed), that looks like this: I need to unlatch the control panel and flip it up to to get to this though. I previously unhooked and hooked the board through a combination of the back bottom panel and the coin slot mechanism door on the front, I have never flipped the control panel open.

Re: Neo Geo MVS 4 slot Help
Well I have a 2 slot cab so I don't know if it is different. I just open the coin door and reach up inside on both sides off the cab. I have to get down on the floor and it takes my whole arms length to reach my latches.
Re: Neo Geo MVS 4 slot Help
So I figured this out, just needed to stick my arm further up the cab. It's nice to have access to the mvs board from the front now!
