I just received a Japanese Virtual Boy from a friend visiting Japan. It came with the system itself, a controller, a battery pack, an AC adapter, and two games (T&E Golf and Galactic Pinball). Not bad for $30, I'd say, though the lack of a stand makes it somewhat difficult to play. D:
Anyway, I've never had a Japanese console before, so I'm a little concerned about the power supply. I know Japan has different standards for voltages and such, so is it safe to use the included Japanese AC adapter? I already played around with it a few times and it seems to run fine, but I'm worried that it's going to damage the system if I continue to use it. Is this a valid fear or should I be okay?

Japan uses almost the same voltage as the US so it should be fine. I have a ton of Japanese consoles and haven't had any problems.

Since both the U.S. and Japan run fairly similar standards on how their people get their electricity, you'll be fine.
About not having the stand though...maybe you could try this?

Re: Japanese Virtual Boy and US Outlets
Awesome, sounds like I don't need to worry now that I have some opinions on the subject. Thanks guys.

I tied it to the front of my Mega Man helmet with some shoe strings and pulled a scarf around my shoulders and into the back of the helmet to balance it out a bit. It's a little hard to slip it on and off, but I can totally walk around with it on. Now I just need to buy a couple packs of batteries so I can take it to the streets!
But seriously though, if anyone knows where I can buy a stand that would be wonderful.
And while we're talking Virtual Boy, what are the better games for it? I dug my old copy of Teleroboxer out of the closet at home (My dad actually bought me a Virtual Boy when they came out, but I think I got rid of it pretty quick for Kirby Super Star instead) and that's probably the best of the three games I have.
Well, I've already devised something similar:YoshiEgg25 wrote:Since both the U.S. and Japan run fairly similar standards on how their people get their electricity, you'll be fine.
