What system should I buy Okami for?
What are the differences between the versions and which one is the better version?
Re: What system should I buy Okami for?
I would go with the Wii version. Using the Celestial Brush with the Wiimote is a great experience. Even though the PS2 version came out first, the game seems perfectly matched to the Wii.
Thanks everyone...

The main difference is the brush motion controls - some googling should show the difference between the two styles. The PS2's is controlled by the analog stick and the Wii's is controlled with the motion sensor like any other Wii game.
Personally, I found the PS2's a LOT easier to control. I tried my friend's Wii version and I had a terrible time trying to accurately pull off moves and such. However, thats just my personal opinion.
I'm pretty sure the graphics are almost exactly the same, but I haven't really looked into it.

Exactly. I've tried both and I choose the ps2 because it was way easier to control without motion, better controller (IMO), and I think its cheaper for ps2.Bradtemple87 wrote:ps2, screw the motion controls

I think you already made your choice posting this in the Nintendo section.

I believe the wii one had widescreen but removed the brush filter that made the game look like it was painted on a scroll. I personally preferred the ps2 one. Controls were better and the filter was prettier.

I have to go with the majority here. While you'd think that the Wii would automatically be the better version because of the natural brush stroke motion, it actually sucks major ass. The PS2 version controls much better, and is definitely the version you should play for the first time.
Check the Wii version out later, just to see what you missed.

While the wii controls helped with the brush segments beware that you lose out on some control with the wii too. The fleet-foot dodge was tied to motion of the nunchuck and at least for me was completely broken. Was nearly impossible to get Amaterasu to dodge even while focusing on only doing that move, much less in combat.
I believe the PS2 version was more colorful and vibrant too.
