Yet another Gamestop run.
PS2 Taito Legends - $2.99http://www.gamestop.com/ps2/games/taito-legends/41075After checking online, only two stores that were in the county had it in stock. Crap, a very long drive for a three dollar game. The first store only had the game disc, so I broke my code of complete games only and bought it. A quick call to my Retro store at both locations turned up nothing, employee there said it rarely comes in and Retro Collections sell quickly whenever they do get one. The second Gamestop further north also only had the game disc with a lot of scratches. After driving for almost an hour, I said the hell with it, bought that one too. My thought is if a bad disc, I don't want to make this drive again until the dreaded GBA sale. Might as well buy both and refund the extra, once I test the game.

Both Gamestops were gracious to let me get a PS2 case off the shelf for the disc only game purchases. After I got home, tested both game discs, installed with no errors with HDAdvance. Going the direct install method confirms of bad sectors on the game discs. Even the scratched up disc installed and ran fine with no errors.
For all the trouble of the marathon commute, I decided to keep both copies. I'll keep the extra game tucked inside the yellow envelope with my
Taito Legends 2 game. Turned on its side, fits right with the game book. Eventually if a complete
Taito Legends ever turns up at Gamestop, I'll buy a third one and refund, keeping the book, cover and original case. I think that is fair, since I already bought two incomplete copies.
The second Gamestop also had a complete used copy of
PS2 Kim Possible, but dammit the disc had the dreaded swirl marks. I could have bought it and then exchanged at another Gamestop, but the swirl marks might void a swap. I already asked for an empty case for
Taito Legends, shoulda asked for that one too.
Can PS2 discs be removed while still spinning in the slim?
While I was way out in the sticks, I saw a Radio Shack two doors down. I remember reading over at Digital Press about PS2 controllers being clearanced out, sure enough bought two
Sony brand PS2 controllers for $5.97 each!

In the interim I printed up a cover with the empty PS2 case Gamestop gave me. Thanks to search of Google images I found the front and back of the cover insert. I used the end of another game then copy and pasted both "Taito" and "Legends" off the front cover. A simple rotate and resize to fit on the end.
