Gamecube mods today

Post by eskil »

I hope this is the right forum…

So I know I'm a little late to the party, but I recently bought a Gamecube, and I'd like to play backups on it. I've been searching the intertubes for a while, but I can't find any up-to-date resources on how to modify your GC and how to burn backups for it. The former isn't much of a problem because chips seem to be available still and I can ask a friend to help me with the soldering, but the latter is. I'd very much like to use full-size DVDs, but I can't find any place that still has the XCM cases in stock, and I don't know how to physically mod my cube so the DVDs fit.
Can anyone help me with this? I'd really appreciate it.

I'd actually be interested in a similar service if there is anyone on site who can do this work themselves or refer me to a reliable 3rd party.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I have a Xenochip on my sale thread... also, I'm pretty sure I'm going to be added a modded Cube that has full-size DVD cover to my sale thread as well. Just saying.

Do you still need to mod a cube? I thought all the cool kids were getting SD loaders these days. I was lucky enough to grab a Qoob pro chip and IcedCube shell before they became hard to find, so I haven't gone down that road yet.

Don't bother with full size cases
Buy mini DVD-R
http://www.meritline.com/philips-4x-min ... 29947.aspx
They work great in the GAmeCube
If you still want a full case then go to google.es then click on Imágenes and search for IcedCube Case.
I have found them in stock for $7-$15 usd + shipping.
You will have to import the case, since it seems they are sold out in the US.
PSone, Xbox, PS2, DC, SS Mod Service, PM for details

Any idea where I might find one of those?
So far, I haven't found any cases via the spanish Google route.

BUY the games, most are very inexpensive at Gamestop. You will spend more on the MiniDVD-Rs or getting the custom full sized top. Then have to deal with POT tweaking and quicker wear of your Gamecube from trying to read the DVD-Rs.

However for Homebrew and Emulators:

It's more of a 'wanting to play imports' kinda thing for some.

Solder in an Import toggle switch or use an Action Replay Import Loader.

Or Freeloader offcourse.
As for playing imports, maybe I should have modded it. Looks easy.
