According to Bulbapedia, yes. It wasn't until this generation that it turned into a glorified Focus Sash.

I was under the impression it still blocked OHKO moves.

Crap, I read the question wrong. >.<

In Gens III and IV, it only blocked OHKO moves (Fissure, Horn Drill, Guillotine, and Sheer Cold). In Gen V, it blocks anything that would KO it in one move, regardless of if it's one of those or not.

Which is why Boldore are such annoyances to me. :x

Am I going to have to do an article on this? :P

Sturdy was negated by Mold Breaker in Gen IV, which would lead me to believe the same for Gen V. However, that can only be proven through testing.

I suppose if you want me to, I can do that tonight.

Well one of my friends is making a party composed of only Shuckle and trying to exploit some flaws in it. So far, I have thought of using Excadrill with Horn Drill and using a Pokemon that does a set amount of damage, such as Dragon Rage. Do you got any ideas?

Site logged me out after writing a huge post, so I'll give you a condensed version:

Use steel-types (resistant to Toxic, super-effective STAB moves), Breloom (resistant to Toxic, can set up with Substitute and mess with it) and something that will put up Stealth Rock (which will break Sturdy and lower its HP by 25% off the bat on the switch-in).

Don't use Pokémon that start with Sandstorm, as Shuckle's already high defense will go higher in sand.

In case of Power Trick, hit hard and fast. Don't give it the opportunity to attack you. Since its defense will lower considerably, use a physical move to bring it down.

For your lead, I'd suggest Azelf. Use this set:

Azelf @ Focus Sash
Naughty
4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 SpA
~ Stealth Rock
~ Fire Blast
~ Explosion
~ Taunt

Smogon's Lead set with a couple changes. Set up Stealth Rock immediately. If it uses Power Trick on the first move, use Explosion on Turn 2. Otherwise, use Taunt, then spam Fire Blast on it until it faints.

With Breloom, use this set:

Breloom @ Toxic Orb
Adamant
252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
~ Substitute
~ Focus Punch
~ Spore
~ Stone Edge

Smogon's SubPunch set, again with changes. Put Shuckle to sleep immediately with Spore (100% accuracy), then set up a Substitute. Spam Focus Punch until Shuckle wakes up or is dead. Repeat as necessary.

Past this, use whatever you want.

Now, if you're going to be playing in the Dream World, that's another story entirely.

Hope this helps a bit.

It's a shuckle. The chances of you one hit killing it are slim anyhow, so I wouldnt worry about sturdy. It's not gonna prove beneficial to shuckle in any way.

The only exception is if he power tricks on the first turn, which will put him at crazy attack and unable to be killed before he can hit you. A simple hail, spikes or stealth rocks will sort that.

Which is why I suggested an Azelf lead to immediately put up SR.
