Hello, dear forumists!
I've been playing a whole lot of Castlevania lately, and now, I crave for more!
So I'm wondering; are there any Castlevania-like games on the Genesis/Mega drive?
I've got the very clumsy Dracula, but that isn't really what I'm looking for!
And sadly, google hasn't been very helpful on the matter...
I'm buying a Gopher and would really like to fill it up with some great horror/adventure games like Castlevania and Splatterhouse.
So, does anybody know of any Castlevania-like Genesis games?
Thanks a lot!

There's Castlevania Bloodlines. That's like Castlevania
I can't think of too many on the Genesis. I can think of a couple for some other systems.

I can't think of any Genesis games that fit the bill, but I've got two suggestions.
8-Eyes (NES) and Vampire: Master of Darkness (Game Gear) could be considered Castlevania clones, in that they're both horror-tinged platformers whose stage designs heavily incorporate staircases and in which the main character's main attack is limited range/horizontal.
You never said they had to be good clones.

But that wont play on the Gopher, since it's a Genesis emulator...

Re: Castlevania clones?
Earnest Evans is similar to Castlevania.
Think of it as a mix between Castlevania and Indiana Jones, but with looser gameplay. It's a decent game, but not up to Castlevania quality. Still, it's worth getting if you can find it for cheap.
It's available on the Genesis/Mega Drive, and also on the Mega CD as a Japanese import (includes CD sound and animated cut scenes).

Yeah, I own that cart on NES since I was a kid, so many memories of the start up music at the main menu.dedalusdedalus wrote:I can't think of any Genesis games that fit the bill, but I've got two suggestions.
8-Eyes (NES)
Anyway, I would recomend getting a Dreamcast, as it has emulators for all the classic systems you coluld want, and they have a NES Castlevania collection homebrew disc somebody made that has the first 3 games on it!

Plus, look at the Beats of Rage mod that is in the Castlevania universe, and you can easily see why it is a great system for any Castlevania fan for emulation and homebrew purposes.

Also, there are emulators of the SNES and Genesis that include their games as well.

Thanks for the tips, guys!
Fortunately, I do have an Ever Drive to test games before I buy them!

I think Phantom 2040 is Metroid-ish. You may want to try that one.
