there's a ton of gray carts that do that too, though. Pokemon Yellow is NOT a GBC game.nightrnr wrote:Thanks for the info on Pokemon Yellow guys. I'm keeping it on the list anyways, but I referenced the difference in ( ).
When I play the game on a PS2 GB emulator, it plays it in color, and that port only plays GBC games in color, standard GB games are greyscale. It's the exception to the rule, I understand, but it stays on my list.

Re: Game Boy Color Exclusives?
Really! I'd like to know which ones. I think games like Metroid II had a pre-configured color pallet (recognized on the GBC, not the cart), but that's not the same thing either.there's a ton of gray carts that do that too, though. Pokemon Yellow is NOT a GBC game.
Anyways, I know it's not technically a GB game, the box makes that clear enough. But unless it's going to start a riot or something, I'd still like to keep it on the list.
Look, I even italicized it.

Re: Game Boy Color Exclusives?
well you can do what you like with yr list. I'm just saying that if yr making a list of GBC carts, Yellow ain't one of them.
BTW, try a GB ROM like Bomberman GB on that emulator. It might just have something to do with SGB support.

I'm a stubborn SOB 'aint I
Just tried the Bomberman GB game. That and most, if not all, Super Game Boy compatible games still play in grayscale on the PS2 emulator (PS2InfoGB). I've yet to find another GB game besides Pokemon Yellow that plays in color. Clearly Something is different about it.

I agree with you. I'm sure something was different. I'm just saying that it's not a GBC cart. And I'm not picking on your or anything. I'm just saying it's not a GBC release. And when you play it on a GBC (actual hardware, not an emulator) it looks like this:nightrnr wrote: Just tried the Bomberman GB game. ...very obviously a GB cart. Plus it was assigned a DMG number rather than DMC.
Also ,Is it possible that the ROM you have has been colorized or something?
Re: Game Boy Color Exclusives?
I am positive that it is not a colorized rom (the emulator has problems with those).I agree with you. I'm sure something was different. I'm just saying that it's not a GBC cart. And remember what game looks like in battles. There's usually more than 4 colors. (sorry, the pic I wanted to use isn't working: "Gengar uses its Confuse Ray" from RPGamer dot com).

I realize that the SGB can do that as well, but they made the GBC recognize it too.
I just think it's in a class all its own. But for my own purposes and intents, I'd like it to stay on my list.
Oh, and all the Black label games I have still show a "DMG" number on the carts.

actually you're right about that ,good point and my bad.nightrnr wrote:

and again, I'm not trying to argue. It's just that the distinction between GB and GBC is something I've done a lot of researching and writing about, and it's just important to me that they're viewed seperately based on their respective hardware limitations/features/etc.
At any rate, like I said, your list so you can do what you want.
(but if I see Yellow listed on any "official" list of GBC carts I'm gonna raise holy hell SRSLY)

This is not arguing; this is a nice healthy debateand again, I'm not trying to argue. Trust me, I don't like to argue, you'd scare me off.
I appreciate your passion on the subject though. I'm probably almost as big a fan as you are; well, the Game Boy was my first system anyways, I don't have a blog devoted to it or anything.
Duly noted, I'd expect nothing less. I'll specify the unofficiality of it all on my list.(but if I see Yellow listed on any "official" list of GBC carts I'm gonna raise holy hell SRSLY)
