wow, that sounds awesome.the King wrote:I'd check out either NCAA football 2004 or 2005. Just a lot different gameplay options than Madden. You have more teams obviously, rivarly games, create your own school, play a game as mascots and the dynasty mode is pretty fun. You could also list this in the PS2 thread, but I thought I'd put it here because its a fun alternative to Madden on the cube while the PS2 has NFL 2k5.

Yeah, I have NCAA Football 2004; it's a very polished game.noiseredux wrote:wow, that sounds awesome.the King wrote:I'd check out either NCAA football 2004 or 2005. Re: Best Gamecube Sports Games
I'm raiding the local flea market this weekend, so I'm going to try and pick up some sports games. I've normally never been a huge sports game guy, but I want to round out my collection some. I'm more arcade-type than simulation, and while any Mario sports game I don't have will be a given to get, this is more on "real" sports games. So what year of the following should I particularly look for with the Cube? Which should I avoid?
NFL Blitz (friends and I were talking about it today)
Madden
NHL Hitz
NBA Street
FIFA Soccer
Also going to definitely look for the NCAA football 2005, Sega Soccer Slammers, Beach Spikers, Fight Night Round 2, and SSX On Tour, Aggressive Inline, and Tony Hawk's Underground. Collection Bolstering time!

Madden, go for 2004, 2005 or 2008.AmishSamurai wrote:I'm raiding the local flea market this weekend, so I'm going to try and pick up some sports games. NBA Street, you want 3 (it has Mario in it) or 2 (it's good).

All the fifa soccer games are decent, any year will suffice.AmishSamurai wrote:I'm raiding the local flea market this weekend, so I'm going to try and pick up some sports games. NBA Street Vol. 3 for sure, has the Mario characters as a bonus (dunk contest w/peach is pretty tight!) plus the courts and specials to open up is IMMENSE!
NFL Blitz 2002-2003 (the one w/Michael Strahan on the artwork) is the best of the 3. Avoid NFL Blitz Pro like the plague, the price is strictly a rarity thing, it is the worst of the 3 games.
Madden, eh, whichever, probably the later the year the better, none of them did much for me.
Def get Sega Soccer Slam, Fight Night Round 2 and the Mario Sports titles.

And Beach Spikers. That's an important one, too.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Some of my favorite memories of playing games with friends have been while playing Mario Power Tennis. Four person multiplayer is where it shines in my opinion. With all the power shots flying everywhere it can get pretty crazy. It's mad fun.
You can also turn the power shots off but it's more fun with them on for multiplayer at least.

Not sure if someone mentioned it yet, but I enjoyed the Disney Soccer game. To my surprise, it has become quite hard to find over the years.
