Anybody played Sega Soccer Slam?
I played it for a little while and it was kinda fun -- seemed like it needed a bit more polish, but it is a good change of pace...
Kinda fits into that "NBA Jam for Soccer" space...

I'd check out either NCAA football 2004 or 2005. Just a lot different gameplay options than Madden. You have more teams obviously, rivarly games, create your own school, play a game as mascots and the dynasty mode is pretty fun. You could also list this in the PS2 thread, but I thought I'd put it here because its a fun alternative to Madden on the cube while the PS2 has NFL 2k5.

other - you should check the Beach Spiker, quite good approach to beach volleyball.
If you like arcade sports, it's a real fun to check with some friends any nba hoopz, nhl hitz, nfl blitz series.
Really!?

Don't get me wrong, I liked ISS2 at the time and it was arguably the best football game on the Gamecube, but nowadays it seems horrible.
Everything about it seems stiff and clunky. I'd say the best football game I've ever played is probably Pro Evolution Soccer 6 for the PS2.

By far my go-to sports game on the cube. Very, very few games that support 3 players, who are all visible on screen and all actively playing a role. An arcade feel and too much fun w/2 other guys on a big screen.

I'm intrigued. You're saying it's better than Super Mario Strikers?

They are very, very similar in play, camera angle options, 3-player mode, etc. But yes, I actually prefer SSS to SMS. The use of specials and turbos is also very similar. Think of SMS in an arcade, with bigger and wackier characters. Add in the points system (earn points by winning matchers, tournaments and completing goals) to build up your character and you have an excellent game. Very fun for 1 player, amazing fun w/2 and 3 players.

Sweet, I'll keep an eye out for it. SMS is probably my favorite sports game for the Cube (with Mario Superstar Baseball in a close second). If this is better, I'm going to have some fun. :D

And to think I'd never even heard of this game before. :/

Don't get me wrong, I love Mario Strikers as well, a gem, but yes, SSS is largely under-rated and not very well known. Def. worth the $7-10 you'll pay for it. I think the PS2 version is even cheaper, like $4-5, but I have not played it on that medium.

You can get the Gamecube version for $3.99 at Gamestop.
