I've never had any issues with the jumping on N64. What sort of issues were you having?Croooow! wrote:Trax for Gameboy

Yoshi's Story for N64 *new* I've heard people knock this game as not being as good as Yoshi's Island. I haven't played Yoshi's Island to compare but I still think this game isn't very good. Collecting 30 fruit to complete a level is an interesting concept but it isn't as rewarding as reaching the end of a level or collecting one large prize. The biggest problem I had was the jumping; the only times I would die was when I couldn't properly control Yoshi in midair. The jumping is slightly easier with the Gamecube controller versus the Classic Controller but I can't imagine how it is with the N64 controller

Aren't you the guy who also likes War Gods?mjmjr25 wrote:I guess I won't tell you that I enjoy Bio-Freaks also.
I need to spend more time with Bio-Freaks. I've got it, but I'm only now beginning to really look at my N64 collection, and I'm being hesitant with it.

Yeah, War Gods is one I loved but most hated...
I enjoy Bio-Freaks as well. Keep in mind, the N64 has consumed most of my teen gaming hours, so I know the library well. Factor in truly, truly horrid fighters like Dual Heroes, Fighting Force 64, and to a lesser extent Flying Dragon and Fighter's Destiny - War Gods/Bio Freaks start to be very enjoyable.

Haha, see, there's the difference. I actually like Flying Dragon, and I consider Fighter's Destiny to be an attempt at innovation, if not a successful one.mjmjr25 wrote:Yeah, War Gods is one I loved but most hated...

I agree though, Dual Heroes is pretty terrible.

I moderately enjoyed Fighter's Destiny 2. Yes Dual Heroes is an excercise in futility, just horrid.Ack wrote:Haha, see, there's the difference. Fighting Force is like trying to get out of quicksand, not sure if by design or maybe too much game/not enough hardware, but everything is sluggish and clunky.
Ultraman Collection for N64 JP is quite good too.

Super Probotector A.K.A Contra 3 is a fun game, although I'm not as crazy about is as most other people. It's fast, action packed and a little crazy, and I quite enjoy it. I actually think that I might prefer the top down mode 7 dizziness inducing leves to the traditional side scrollers too. Overall, this one wasn't bad, but I feel everyone knows plenty about it already.
Wonder Boy in Monster Land (the second game in the series) for master system is brutal. Really quite hard. The game never feels blatantly cheap exactly, but it really forces you to play over and over til you perfect the game. And perfect is the world - its arcade hard, you get one life, and no continues. I played this game so many times trying to beat it. The satisfaction when I did though - Oh god it was so good.
I enjoy the game, but it definetely comes from an old school mentality of making games really hard and full of obscurely hidden, but practically essential secrets. You're certainly not meant to beat this one in a day. I liked it overall, but it was perhaps a little too harsh - It's not as good as it's sequel, wonder boy III: the dragons trap, which is one of my favourite 8 bit titles ever.
Up next: God knows. I'm thinking maybe Pilotwings Resort and perhaps Mario Galaxy 2.

Just getting Yoshi to land exactly where I wanted him to. I don't know if was just me not understanding the game physics and jumping momentum or if which joystick I was using made a difference (the problem wasn't as bad using a Gamecube controller).alienjesus wrote:I've never had any issues with the jumping on N64. Kirby's Dreamland took about an hour or so to beat. It was the first time I had played it in years, and still as endearing as the first time. One of the all time great GB games. I am currently enjoying the even better sequel
Mass Effect 2...wow. I thoroughly enjoyed the first game when I played it for the first time earlier this year, but the sequel blows it away in almost every imaginable way. The missions, the scope, the length (about twice as long), the interface, the graphics, the dialogue, etc. - everything is improved. I did like the ending to ME1 better, but the end of ME2 nicely sets up ME3. I can't wait to play the last DLC that comes out next week and to gear up for for the sequel (hopefully) later this year. This series certainly deserves its high praise as one of the best experiences of this or any generation.
While playing ME2 I inadvertently beat a few of the DLC expansions while playing through the main story (the nature of the DLC allows you to do this), and as was the case last year if an expansion/add-on/etc. has some decent length to it, I am going to count it on the list. Shadow Broker is actually very good on its own accord and is probably the best DLC I have played for any game. It should not be missed.

when you play it do you play through the "hard" mode as well? that's even more fun.dsheinem wrote:Kirby's Dreamland took about an hour or so to beat.
