I guess my challenge is over. Anyone else want to give it a go?
wow, already? how much did you play (or overplay) your first time through? i played the first two games a good amount, and have finally gotten motivated to get into the wii version and am enjoying it, although not much has changed. currently trying to get a "perfect town", but i keep getting that damn "you have too many trees" message. @#$)(*#@.

I played my first time through for about 3 months straight. I guess once you're burned out on Animal Crossing you stay that way.

I played Wild World for about 3 months as well. I haven't played the Wii game yet.

Do you think City Folk is better than Wild World? A lot of reviews I've read say that they are essentially the same game with no major improvements/changes.

i really wanted city folk to be a step forward for the series, but it really is very similar to the DS game. even though i'm a nintendo fanboy there really just isn't enough to justify playing it again, although the small additions like regular DLC, a handful of new characters and holidays, and wearing accessories such as glasses are fun. possible exceptions to this are if you haven't played the gamecube version, as they brought back holidays, and if you really like playing over wi-fi esp. with someone who hasn't played it before the wii speak compatibility could justify playing it.

edit: i should add that i would've gotten bored with CF earlier if i had really played the heck out of the first two versions, but there was a lot i hadn't done in those games (e.g. collect all the fossils) so i had some of that motivation still. but i could've just as easily gone back to my old save file for those games and been similarly satisfied.

I guess I won't be checking out CF for a while.

Thanks to a friend I'll be having a surprise for this thread soon. It might be about a week or so but I'm getting excited. :)

Hey it came early!

I can't read a single thing though. Here are some differences that I know of:
-No island (obviously)
-No e-reader compatibility (obviously)
-No Able Sisters
-No Museum

This is pretty much the bare bones for what would become the final GameCube version.
I think the final one in Japan is called something like Dobutsu no Mori e+.
