I tried PowerGig. I'd rather just learn how to play a guitar using a real one, but then again, my mom bought it as a mistake. The guitar "controller" itself is completely horrid at tracking where your fingers are. Powergig doesn't even work well with a traditional fake guitar, and really the only reason I'd buy it is to hear some exclusive songs, because Dave Mathews thought this game would be "different". Powergig is cool in theory, but epically fails in practice.

Not to mention, I'm left handed, so it's an even bigger bitch when none of the music game peripheral giants give a crap about lefties.
Collects promo gaming stuff, certain import games, hockey memorabilia, and other oddball things. (sig and avy under construction)

In my opinion left handed guitars just shouldn't exist anyway. You don't get left handed violins, or left handed pianos, or left handed trumpets. If anything left handed people are at more of an advantage when it comes to playing guitars since they are fretting with their dominant hand.

Also, Guitar Hero and Rock Band have had lefty flip modes since the beginning.

Regarding this game, there is absolutely no way this thing can work. Unless they've done the impossible and created a system that can separate polyphony in real time (Celemony can do it with Melodyne but it's far from real time and it still makes plenty of mistakes). This will not work. I guarantee it.

This thread adds a lot of evidence to what we're seeing over at the Rock Band forums: Harmonix has failed with advertising the Pro guitar aspect of the newest game.

Like the post on the first page of this thread indicates, there already is a rhythm game that is played with a real guitar. It's Rock Band 3. Yes, it works differently, by sensing finger position. It works pretty well, and I've learned to play a few songs on a low difficulty but I'm hanging in there :)

Anyway, in my opinion the only thing this new game has going for it is a Rolling Stones track on disc, which Rock Band hasn't had since its very first release :( Considering all PowerGig had going for it was a few exclusive artists, I predict this one will meet a similar fate.

Haters gonna hate

I have been playing Beatmania, DDR and PIU for years and plan to get Pop'n'music and Taiko soon. I think they are very much worth it. In fact I would say that each new version is better than the previous one.

I would also say that the Pong/Music game hybrid from Konami looks very cool. Don't remember the name know.
No, I like music games.

I just hate all the shitty ones, which is all that's come out recently aside from Rock Band 3

I want to get excited about these ideas, but I'll stick to my real guitars.
