The Animal Crossing 30 Day Challenge

Post by Opa Opa »

I've been kinda stressed out lately and I wanted something to do to blow off some steam from the other stuff I've got going on. I looked on my game shelf and spotted Animal Crossing. A game that doesn't have any real goals or time limits is really appealing right now so I've decided to challenge myself to play it for at least 30 days straight. I haven't had a long running town in a while so I thought making this thread will give me the determination I need to stick with it. I'll probably play for about 20 minutes a day and I'll use this thread to post comments and whatnot on a daily basis.

Anybody can comment if they want if they'd like to leave some feedback or call me crazy or whatever. :)

Note: If I take a screenshot it'll be taken from my phone's camera. The quality will be poor but it's the only way I have to capture images right now.

Day 1:

I hopped aboard the train using almost all my savings for a ticket. I was bound for Yokohama which is apparently a good vacation spot for cats.

Rover contacted one of his friends who could hook me up with a place to call my own. When I walked off the train platform I was greeted by the raccoon Tom Nook, owner of the local five and dime. I picked a house but I could only afford to make a down payment. Mr. Nook, knowing that I had no way to earn some coin, offered me a part-time position at his shop. I delivered packages, met the townsfolk, and finished my shift. Nook let me go and told me some ways to earn money. I spent the rest of the day gathering shells off the shore, digging up fossils, and selling gyroids. I made some money and I plan on paying off some of my loan tomorrow.

Thus ends Day 1.

Something to note:
One of the villagers is a cat with a tangerine for a head.

I have no comment. :|
***Edit***
Had a little more time to play tonight. Sold some cherries and gyroids. Paid a little bit of my mortgage. I owe a little over 11,000 Bells. Hopefully the store will have a fishing pole tomorrow. Besides a butterfly or two I didn't see many bugs. A net won't bring too many profits. I've got about 5 fossils to send off tomorrow so those should take a dent out of my loans once I sell them. I doubt I'll donate to the museum in these 30 days. I'd like to get my house as big as possible in this short time so selling fossils/fish/etc. is what's going to happen.

Day 1 is now officially over. :) 29 to go!

haha Flake tried to keep an AC journal. It didn't stick too long. But I encourage this here, since it takes me back to Geocities. :)

I took the most passive aggressive slant I could on Animal Crossing. My experience ended when I alienated the entire town. Something about chopping down every tree in sight did not sit well with them. The lumber industry always gets the blame.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Awesome! All my neighbors sucked. I have like 3 ducks/birds, 2 frogs, 2 horses and bear. That's it. No variety.

Hmm. That's strange. You'd think with those trees out of the way they'd appreciate a nice view of the beach. :?

Day 2:

Didn't play that long today. I went to Nook's shop and alas the fishing pole was not there but the bug net was. I guess the game doesn't want me making money right now. :?

I sent off about eight fossils to the museum so hopefully I can pay off my debts tomorrow. And speaking of debts, I only have 5,000 bells left to pay off on my first mortgage.
...
And I got stung by a bee today. That sucks. Every villager I talked to had a good laugh at my horribly disfigured face. (I'll get back at them when I find some pitfall traps. )

Day 2 is pretty much over. Here's a hint of what's to come tomorrow for those who are actually reading this.
Tomorrow involves one of these:

Day 3:

I hate Tom Nook. Instead of putting up a fishing pole for sale he puts up another bug net. I don't need two bug nets. Sell fishing poles!!! Fishing is really the best way to make money when you don't have fruit or fossils so... *fingers crossed* I hope he has a fishing pole in the shop tomorrow.

I paid off the rest of my loan and my house should be expanded tomorrow. To celebrate I went on a little vacation.

Unfortunately, there are no monkey's on Monkey Island. I met the sole inhabitant and put on a tropical island shirt to relax and stroll around the palm trees. I took about eight coconuts back to the mainland and planted them along the shore. I should have some coconuts in production soon.

Hopefully, when I go back to Monkey Island I'll be able to go fishing.

I started playing this today. First I wanted to name my town Madagascar (group I'm part of named after a Pandemic 2 reference), but it was too big. So I figured Hinamizawa, Silent Hill, and Raccoon City would be too big too. Then the game decides to grab me by the balls and doesn't let me go past four characters.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the humble town of Fart.
