Sega Saturn Mod Chip Alternative

Post by gilga »

I am getting to ready to buy the sega saturn mod chip from racket boy. I was wondering if there were any other way to mod the saturn that does not require soldering. I prefer to not perform the swap trick.

Thanks!

I'm afraid not - its the swap trick or a chip. Nobody has ever figured out the Saturns copy protection.

Nope, there are no other options other than running your games in an emulator on the PC.

i wouldnt worry about the modchip too much

installation is a cake for the model 2 64 pin US version

-took me like 3 minutes to do actuall mod. Hardest part is probably just unscrewing the console to get to the board.

Note- The japanese model is a lil bit more tricker. Same two wires to solder, but one of the wire that go to the board has a very small location to solder on.
So if you not skillful enough in soldering then this will be a lil difficult to do.

As for right now i still cant solder that wire to my japanese console.....:(

Actually i managed to mod my saturn without soldering but i had to make damn sure not to move it around too much. Im not saying it's the recomended method but its at least possible.

yea i did that with my US saturn no problem just some duct tape or electrical tape to hold it down. As for my japanese saturn its lil difficult because the point you want to attach the wire too is very small and close to other points.
