looks like this weekend i can pick up a pokemon black bundle for 99 bucks. I dont care about pokemon, but thats a killer deal for a DSI, i figured i may go for it. Thing is its a European DSI
a couple questions
1. A UK DSI should play any US game just fine right? Im pretty sure the DS is pretty much region free. At least the light was, im not sure about the I and XL.
2. What about the charger? will a UK charger work in a US plug?
3. If not can i use an american DSI XL charger with a UK DSI? i have one for my xl.. dunno if they're interchangable or not, and if they are dont know if a XL charger works with a DSI
hopefully someone knows because the sale ends sunday

1.Some games are region locked on DSi. Currently it's only Pokemon Black and White, so you'd need the PAL versions of those if you want to play them.
2. No, I think you'll need some sort of adapter. Best to ask someone more knowledgable than me for this though. UK plug sockets put out double the voltage of US iirc. That and the UK plug pins are completely the wrong shape.
3. Again, I don't think so for the same reason as above.
Also worth noting that you'll only be able to access the European DSi Store I think, meaning you'll have different releases and schedules to the US.

Re: UK DSI in the US?
thanks. I know that you'll need some kind of adaptor, im just not sure what kind.. if you would need an actual voltage converter, or just a regular prong adaptor to use a UK system in the us.
Also, im wondering if you can just use the US plug on a UK system or if that would cause problems.
@ the usb comment... is there a usb charger or something? im only aware of the regular charger
anyway all this is kinda moot now since i realied the euro> US conversion kinda sucks right now. Even at 99.00 euro it works out to about the same as a regular US version

Re: UK DSI in the US?
well thats pretty damn cool. Thanks for the info. Is it just a straight USB cable, or is it something special? Because i got a 10 foot one for the ps3 on monoprice
http://www.monoprice.com/products/produ ... 1&format=2
thats a usb to usb mini-b 5 pin type.
This thing looks cool but i need a longer one, it looks too short for me. Any idea what kinda connector you need for the lite? (mini b 4 or 5 pin? Micro b?) i'll pick up a longer one on monoprice if its just a regular adaptor cable. Im also wondering what size you need to use for the XL/DSI

Re: UK DSI in the US?
The DS Lite has a proprietary plug, and the DSi has a different one. I do not know about the XL, but maybe that one is the same as the DSi.
If you buy a USB charger (they are very convenient) be sure to get one that is specifically for your DSi and not for the DS Lite.
They are basically just cables, but they need to have the right ending.
Ivo.
