PC speakers swithcher/ reciever?

Post by ilovesega »

I've decided i want to move my xbox to pc desk. I got a set of 5.1 logitechs that have green, black, orange connectors. I also got an adaptor that allows the red/white rca to work with the speakers. Now im wondering if theres some kind of device like a reciever basically so i can also hook my laptop up without having to plug unplug the cables all the time.

Ok, to be more specific im looking for something like an amp or reciever that accepts the speakers (green, orange, black) and can output from the xbox (rca or optical) and my laptop (spdif or green headphone out)

Don't care about "true" 5.1 too much, but best hookups would be prefered (optical out form xbox and spdif from laptop)

Edit to add:

OK so i believe my speakers are self-powered (they are logtiech x520's) The way i used to have them connected was through my desktop soundcard via the orange, red, green connections. I have an adaptor that uses the xbox rca outs that can connect to them and it outputs all speakers but of course its not true 5.1 which im ok with. So i guess what im really looking for is a switch that takes the above connection i mentioned and can easily switch between my thinkpad t400 laptop (spdif or headphone out) and my xbox 360 (rca or optical)

You can get an audio selector switch box or use the audio portions of a video select box. You will need adaptor cables or plugs to connect to the RCA inputs.

1- Plug into PC
2- Hook speakers to USB device
3- Hook Xbox into line-in on USB device
4- Hook notebook into S/PDIF In
5- ?????
6- Profit

Though I'm not entirely sure that the S/PDIF inputs automatically transfers to analog output. I guess the logical thing would be to support this, but I've come by several stupid implementations of S/PDIF in the past, and the manufacturer website only has a quickguide PDF, afaict.
