Which Sega 16-bit set up should I get?

Post by Breetai »

It will be a while before I start to rebuild a nice, refined console collection.
Basically, I am looking to have this stuff:

For the Genesis part of my collection, I'm looking at a JP Mega Drive/Mega CD unit. Question is, which one looks the best? I am most concerned about which looks the most aesthetically pleasing. I plan to have two Sega six-button control pads, and am thinking of just going without the 3-button pads completely.

To impress others with sheer size and amount of gaming technology, I'd say go with a model 1 md/mega-cd combo.

But for that futuristic look go for the Wondermega.

Sorry but the MD model 2 combo just doesn't look that appealing. :| It looks more cheap and plastic-like. The other two choices look solid and durable.

Isn't the model 2 cd supposed to be more reliable? I would say that one.

I'd say they take better care of consoles in Japan than here in the States... I don't think it'd be that big of an issue. And the Wondermega is toploading as well so no ejecting drive to deal with.

Model 1 MD + Model 2 CD

best audio quality + best reliability

either that or the wondermega

or a cdx (did japan have one of those?)

Yeah that

You don't normally think about it much, but the tiny footprint is a godsend when you start getting an assload of systems.

I am not at all interested in a model 1 MD/model 2 CD set up. That is/was my Genesis set up, and I'd rather have a matching set.

I do not care about the best audio quality... although, did the MD2 suffer from the same audio/video issues as the Genesis 2? I don't even know...

Japan did not get the CDX. It was only North America and PAL.

It's true.

That's the European Multi-Mega. Japan DID NOT get a version of the CDX.

Thanks to all so far. Interesting that the MD2/CD2 is leading so far... I'm kind of surprised.

One thing about the Wondermega... only one AC adapter!

isn't the wondermega a biotch to find?

but, i think the model ones are sexy. if that setup could be converted to a human it would no doubt be a super model.
if you took a shit, please put it back
