Geeky Tourist Stops/Stores in Boston
Geeky Tourist Stops/Stores in Boston
Going to Boston for PAX East and spending a couple extra days in the city just for sight-seeing. Does anyone have any ideas of good places and geeks like us would like to check out that might be overlooked by most tourists?
We aren't driving, so everything needs to be either walking distance or easily-accessible with public transit.
Thanks!

Re: Geeky Tourist Stops/Stores in Boston
I don't live in Boston, but from the times I've been there I've found the easiest time getting around using the Boston "T" Transit system:

I bought a refillable card and had money left over after using it for a week.
Cheers!

You want to go to Tokyo Kid in Cambridge.

If I recall correctly, it is well within walking distance from public transportation.
Have fun at PAX!

If you can tolerate all of the Harvard students, Cambridge is a pretty cool place. There are lots of really fun shops, and I suspect that you will have a really good time when you visit.racketboy wrote: Sweetness! I was planning on hitting up Cambridge anyway

Here are some video game stores that you might want to check out:
Sudden Impact, Winthrop, MA

Mikes Toyz
1190 cambridge st.,cambridge ma
tuesday-thru saturday 9am to 5 pm.617-913-2372
Personally, I haven't been to these two stores but I've seen them on Craigslist and they seem to have a lot of retro stuff.
The Duck Tours are fun to do.

Thanks! How good is Sudden Impact? I saw a video tour and it didn't look overly exciting. I would stop in regardless if it was closer to everything, but its a bit out of the way...gtmtnbiker wrote:Here are some video game stores that you might want to check out:

Re: Geeky Tourist Stops/Stores in Boston
I've never been to Sudden Impact. I have only seen his ads on Craigslist which usually include some photos. Winthrop is next to Boston and it's apparently a short T ride away.
Their website is at http://www.suddenimpact.comcastbiz.net/6284.html
On second thought, maybe there's no need to go to the store. It appears that they will be at PAX East.
Here's a blurb from the website:
Look for Sudden Impacts booth at this years Pax East video game show march 11,12 and 13th 2011 booth #148 in the same area with Sony and Nintendo...over 60 thousand gamers will attend this HUGE event!!!
