Oh yeah Luigi's Mansion would be awesome on the 3DS!irixith wrote:Oh, absolutely. The level design in Sunshine is good, except for some of those totally miserable difficult parts. I'm one of those people that had trouble with the FLUDD. It's bizarre, hard to control properly especially with that bastard camera, and about 1/2 way through the game, not even particularly fun. If the game had just been a platformer...Opa Opa wrote:The reason I ask is because every time I see someone say "I don't like Sunshine" they usually praise Galaxy. If you pay attention to the level design, you can tell that a lot of inspiration for Galaxy came from Sunshine.irixith wrote:The control was better and more fluid, but the overall game .. not really, to be honest. However, I always appreciate when Nintendo gives me something new to try.
Luigi's Mansion was brilliant, a) because Luigi got some prime time, and b) because he's not in the spotlight as much as Mario, there was freedom to experiment with the game mechanic. Porting a similar (blow instead of suck?) mechanic over to Mario just didn't work well for me.

I actually had quite a bit of fun with Super Mario Sunshine. The level design is actually pretty good, and I also enjoyed how specific stars change aspects of the stage. While the default spray of Fludd wasn't the best thing ever, I actually really enjoyed the other attachments. The hover ability felt like it added to Mario's mobility, extending jumps or getting you in place for a wall jump. The rocket was fun to screw around with (and for more vertical height in levels). The turbo/water ride thing was cool but limited in use. I also enjoyed how you could ride Yoshi. I liked the abstract red coin areas, they were challenging and you can tell Galaxy took inspiration from them... the only one I hated was the Pachinko machine level
On topic though; I highly doubt Super Mario Sunshine 3D will be released. It just didn't sell as well as others in the series did. Same idea with a LoZ: Wind Waker 3D... I love both of the games but they just don't have the commercial backing/support as others in the series.

Lol I was about to say the exact same thing I started off liking Mario Sunshine but the water hose pipe thingy ended up really annoying me and I just wish it didn't have it in the game.Pabstblueribbon wrote:I didnt like Sunshine, but I enjoyed Galaxy. It wasn't the level design, but i didnt really care for the whole water crap, it felt really gimmicky to me. Its been years since I played it though, so a second chance might be in order. as far as Super Mario Sunshine 3D, I just don't see it, because Sunshine wasn't praised nearly as much as Super Mario 64.
I know others that like Mario Sunshine are going to disagree but yeah Mario 64 and Mario Galaxy are much better than this game common theme being there is no water pipe.
To me Galaxy feels like Mario Bros 2 in that it did something different and not many people liked it and I'm one of them people.

I would love to see more Gamecube games porter to the 3DS. Wind Waker Portable would be a day-1 buy for me. You have to remember, the value behind these ports isn't just letting you play the game again, it is letting you play it again on a portable system. I have always been a big proponent of portable gaming, and the more console games there are available on portables, the better, in my opinion. That is another reason why I am really liking Sony's current strategy with the PSP, and even more so with the upcoming NGP.

I don't want to relive the Mario Sunshine quality controversy. Sooo much hyperbole.

Super Mario Sunshine 3D? Sure. Why not? I'd buy it.

I agree with that statement. Seeing Uncharted on the "NGP" has every bit of my attention.lisalover1 wrote:I would love to see more Gamecube games porter to the 3DS. I liked what I played of Sunshine. I would probably pick it up if I got a 3DS if it happened. Or maybe a Super Mario Sunshine 2? Kind of like the Yoshi's Island DS game.
