Ok, I am considering adding to my endless collection of consoles and games, my wife is going to kill me but hey you guys understand how it goes right? My latest interest is set on the Sega Saturn. I've been floating around ebay trying to find a good deal but I don't know what a good going price is and what should be included with it as far as accessories needed to play it.
Now for the games. What are the absolute must plays for Saturn? Does the Saturn suffer from the same breakdown crap the Sega CD suffered from? Thanks!
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

I can see DSH coming with links now, but first read the Sega Saturn 101 article:
From there use the search bar at the top of the site and just type "Sega Saturn". You will get a very strong list of articles covering essential and defining to cheap or very rare games. There are also genre defining game lists. Dont be afraid to search the site articles for information.

Anytime, and if you want suggestions one of my favorites for the system is Dragon Force, but you will read about it in a couple of those articles. You will also want to get an action replay/memory cart so you can play the import shmups and fighters.
After my model 2 Saturn finally died, I managed to buy a new (new as in to me, not brand new obviously ) boxed one for £30 (incl postage + delivery) along with a demo disc and a crappy Fifa game. Not a bad price, so you might be able to find one for a similar price. Obviously the price may be different depending on where you're from though. If you're from the US, you might be able to find one cheaper.
I think most people advise getting the model 2 if you can BTW.

Christmas Nights (technically a demo, but so much fun and replay value)
Expensive games worth buying:
Panzer Dragoon Saga (can be found cheaper on JPN import)
Guardian Heroes (can be found cheaper on JPN import)
Saturn Bomberman (can be found cheaper on JPN import)
Shining Force III (can be found cheaper on JPN import, but language barrier is a problem)

relatively cheap Imports:
Metal Slug (needs a ram cart however, or the action replay 4 in 1)
Assualt Suit Leynos 2
Grandia (if you like RPGs, get this! Language barrier isn't much of a problem with a translation guide and it's easy to play)

Official Memory Cartridge. The Saturn has battery back-up, but you can only save up to about 4-10 games, ish I'd say. Probably 10 is pushing it. Not to mention that the battery is unreliable and only lasts about a year. Just buy a cartridge, it's ridiculous how much you can save. Just make sure you get an official one.
Action Replay 4 in 1. You could not get the above and just stick with this, but you can't save or load directly to the cartridge, which is annoying. This cartridge also acts as a cheat cartridge (obviously), ram cart and import loader.
