Well, I can't speak for a month after, I wasn't looking at that time.lisalover1 wrote:Seriously? I had absolutely no trouble finding a used DS about a month after release. in fact, I found at least one at every Gamestop I visited.
I bought my DS day one. I remember it being a pain in the ass, with visits to several different stores. Maybe it was a regional thing, but that's how it was for me.

Well, it's the idiot's who pay so much extra fault really. Can't you wait 1 month to get the system at a normal price? I'm amazed by how greedy consumers we have become. Does impressing people, by having something everyone is going to have in one month, before everyone else really that important to you? (this of course applies to the case of the new iphone every year more than it does with consoles but anyway)

Re: Will the 3DS sell out?
Well certainly it's foolish to pay like that when they could have just reserved it and had it at the regular retail price. I knew I was going to wait for the inevitable 3DS-"Lite" when it comes in about a year or so but for the Wii it was different. I knew I wanted it so I reserved it months in advance.ZeroAX wrote:D.D.D. wrote:Or jerks~hashiriya1 wrote: Oddly enough there's a ton of them on Amazon Japan, though they are marked up $50 over MSRP. Re: Will the 3DS sell out?
I just checked the Ebay completed auctions and was surprised at how many systems have already sold at $380+. There was even one for $500.
A few of people were selling 3ds email addresses for aol, yahoo, gmail.
I also saw a couple of pre-orders being sold for $100+. Here's an example:

Not sure what the person is getting exactly. Seems like a scam to me.

Re: Will the 3DS sell out?
Definitely a scam, I wonder if paypal/ebay will refund them their money? Also I think if I pre order it I can still return it as long as I didn't open it? That way if I change my mind its still a win win situation or does gamestop's policy not accept that?gtmtnbiker wrote:I just checked the Ebay completed auctions and was surprised at how many systems have already sold at $380+. Re: Will the 3DS sell out?
It will likely sell out. The 3D effect actually works and works pretty damn well. I've had my 3DS since Feb 25th and it's really impressive.
Niode, if you are reading this, you were right about Ridge Racer being hard to play with 3D turned up. However, if I put the 3D on very low, it looks great. The other game I have played is Sengoku Musou Chronicle and that one I play with the 3D set to about the middle.
Overall, the 3DS is better than I was expecting. The graphics are impressive, the 3D really works and enhances the games. And the motion capabilities of the 3DS seem to work very well too. I'm looking forward to the future, when we get some really amazing games.

Re: Will the 3DS sell out?
Was this even a serious question? Of course it will sell out at launch. My guess is that it will be hard to get now at around launch, then available in limited quantities, and then sold out everywhere and near impossible to find around Christmas.

Re: Will the 3DS sell out?
That is what I'm afraid of. I don't really want to get it at launch because the launch titles don't really catch my interest (except SSFIV). I'm afraid that if I don't pick up a 3DS at launch, when the games I'm most interested in like Zelda, Kid Icarus, and Resident Evil Mercenaries 3D come out I won't be able of find a 3DS anywhere because it will be sold out everywhere.Betamax001 wrote:Was this even a serious question? Don't you find the most impressive thing when you engage 3D mode is that the jaggies seem to all but disappear. It's bizarre. Makes the graphics seem a lot better than they are.Inazuma wrote:It will likely sell out. The 3D effect actually works and works pretty damn well. I've heard that putting the camera inside the car makes the game a lot more playable, but my style of driving in Ridge Racer requires me to see the front of the car so I know my nose is clipping the apex. You can't tell that from first person view.
I've had my pre-order in since the announcement of the EU release date. So I'm getting one regardless. Chances are, it's going to sell out. However, by the time OoT comes out, they'll have more stock anyway. I guess you're not going to miss much if you decide to wait. Most of the big titles from the run up to launch appear to be coming out around June anyway (Oot, Kid Icarus, Resident Evil etc).
