Has The Wii Blown Its Wad? *lol*

Post by Weekend_Warrior »

Excuse the horrible pun there.

Anyway...

Lost In Shadow received lukewarm reviews back in January. But I think failed to muster any "ICO-esqe' hidden gem status, as I was sort of hoping for.

Mario Sports Mix recently got very poor reviews.

Other than the Conduit 2, The Grinder, Trackmania, Kirby Dreamland, and Zelda: Skyward Sword there really doesn't appear to be much in the pipeline right now. At least none that has been reported until E3 in June (halfway through the year). And lately it kinda seems like Nintendo is only concentrating on the 3DS.

So what about the Wii... does it have anything left? Can it still compete with the PS3/360 this year? I mean, there's some big titles coming in the next few months...

Fight Night Champion
Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon
Gun Loco
Homefront
MLB 11: The Show
MotoGP 10/11
Crysis 2
Playstation Move Heroes
Need For Speed Shift 2
Motorstorm Apocalypse
SOCOM 4: US Navy Seals
Mortal Kombat
Portal 2
Duke Nukem Forever
MX vs ATV Alive
L.A. Noire
Brink
Red Faction Armageddon
F.E.A.R. 3
Infamous 2

Then there's future big games on the horizon like Dragon Age II, Elder Scrolls V, Rage, Gears of War 3, Batman: Arkham City, Metal Gear Rising, another Assassin's Creed, etc. Plus, whatever is revealed for these consoles at E3, as well

Have we seen the best of what the Wii has to offer now that the competing consoles both have motion controls? Or is there still some magic yet to come?? *Again, excuse the pun*

You really get off on these fanboy flame bait threads, eh?

But here's me taking the higher ground:

Nah, the Wii is doing fine all things considered. Yeah, the upcoming line up is not golden...but usually Nintendo's summers are always lack luster. One thing that you have to take into account is that Nintendo is probably putting all of their muscle into the 3DS launch window right now: They need to get those key 1st party titles out the door ASAP to reward the early adopters and ensure strong hardware sales. I personally think they are jumping the gun a bit releasing the 3DS this soon but...

Also, I know you like to get some controversy going but drawing comparisons between the big name titles for those two systems and Nintendo's little box of waggle is a bit misleading, isn't it? Other than a couple of titles here and there on the Christmas wish-list you provided, those are all pretty violent and intense titles...not exactly the Wii's bread and butter. So those titles aren't exactly competing for the same demographic as ardent Wii fans. You're implying that some connection exists that is not there.

...and you know Zelda is going to outsell all of those games easily.

Oh, and I think you might find the forums on this site to be a great fit for some of your ideas.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

What gives you that impression? I don't create very many threads, and when I do they're rarely comparing systems or arguing in favor of one. Heck, check what I've been playing lately.. they're all Nintendo games!

The point is it's very quiet on the Nintendo Wii front right now. Whereas the other consoles keep pumping out the hits. There is still a console race going on, ya know.

Empirical data is essential to inductive reasoning. You make an assessment as to the likelihood of something happening based on how often / how reliably it has happened in the past.

I did not see anything else in your response that warranted addressing. I made my point in my initial response. I just wanted to make sure you understood the concept to which I was referring.

If that had been your actual question you would not have seemed to be coming off as an instigator.
