Happy 25th Birthday to The Legend of Zelda

I picked up Adventure of Link Saturday, but never played the original.

I'm actually doing a run through right now! I just beat Dodongo and am off to Labyrinth 3.

My first memory of the game is sitting in one of those faux leather cockpit style gaming chairs and watching my cousin play. I would later inherit that gorgeous gold cart.

What a classic series

I tip my hat to this series. I'm not a huge fan, but I love Okami and Beyond and Good Evil. They both show obvious Zelda influence

Of the Zelda games I have played I think Zelda 2 on the NES and Twilight Princess are my favorites. I like Zelda best when it's dark and serious. I didn't like the kid Link stuff in Ocarina or the new cutesy approach in Wind Waker(which isn't to say that they were bad games)

The first time I played Zelda was in my friend's house. He had rented Zelda and PunchOut, we both had never played those games and after trying both, despite PunchOut was amazing, I was completely thrilled about Zelda. The golden cartridge and the dungeons, buying items... It was an upgrade from Atari's "adventure" to me.

I wonder how Nintendo will be celebrating this. We probably have to wait until August 22 next year to find out. Which is the actual 25th birthday of the US release.

Yes, but the US release doesn't really count cuz Japan got this.
In other words, everybody loves early presents, even video games.

Maybe it is time I finally played this game through to the end...I never have finished a Zelda game on a console (I did beat Link's Awakening though).
