Thoughts on my Master System Game List
Re: Thoughts on my Master System Game List
I'm not a huge Master System guy, but Wonderboy III: The Dragon's Trap is a must have game for sure.
Dynamite Dux is a pretty fun beat-em up from what I remember. Zillion is alright. Golvellius is worth getting. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Air Rescue is pretty fun
Batman Returns is fun but its pretty hard or maybe I just suck at it.
Master of darkness is pretty cool too.
edit: I don't think any of those games were released in the US but they will work on a US master system.

Re: Thoughts on my Master System Game List
did I make any mistakes on the games I purchased? Ah Batman, will have to grab that! I also have read on this very site that Golden Axe Warrior is a must, has anyone here played that?
Re: Thoughts on my Master System Game List
No mistakes. You have a VERY solid collection there!!! The only question marks for me are the 3D games. Do you have 3D glassed? If not, those games will look like crap.Icedawg wrote:did I make any mistakes on the games I purchased? Ah Batman, will have to grab that! no net yet lol I did try playing those games and they seemed good but you are right, really hurt my eyes. I've been looking on Ebay but really haven't found anything yet, I also bought some a/v cables for the SMS.. considering getting a custom paint job too like the ones on Youtube (jet black)

Re: Thoughts on my Master System Game List
You really need to get ahold of all the wonder boy games you can, and I'd recommend the FantasyZone games you don't have, which are the better ones of the three on master system. When you get around to playing some of these, I wouldn't mind hearing your opinions, particularly for Cloud Master, Rastan, Quartet and Trasbot.
Heres some of the SMS games I own which werent on your list and which I enjoy:
Wonder Boy
Wonder Boy in Monster Land
Wonder Boy 3:The dragons trap (Must have!)
These games are great, and are the true defining games of the master system to me - they're unique, well polished and fun, and some of the best the system has to offer for sure. I dunno if your sticking to games for a specific region, but theres a Europe only SMS release of Wonder Boy in Monster World aswell, which is meant to be good and distinct from the Mega Drive game of the same name.
Aztec Adventure Nice little game, it's nothing flashy, but I liked it. The mechanics were fairly creative.
Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse
Lucky Dime Caper starring Donald Duck These disney platformers are really good and I'd recommend them. I hear good things about Land of Illusion and Deep duck Trouble too, their respective sequels.
Fantasy Zone - Yeah it's good. I can't speak for FZ 2, but I've heard it might even be better, which sounds good to me.
Penguin Land - Fun Puzzle game, takes more thought than it seems initially. Quite long too, with 50 levels plus a level editor.
Asterix games - These games might have only come out in Europe (I dunno for sure, but it seems likely) but they're great fun, simple platformers with the occasional puzzle twist. Each character gets his own missions too, so it has a little bit of replay value which is nice.
Sonic the Hedgehog - I personally love this one, I think its one of the best 2d sonic games. The second one is pretty bad though, the level designs just feel horrible. I heard the US copy is ridiculously priced though.
Marble Madness
New Zealand Story
These games are OK, but I wouldnt call them must haves. Marble Madness is ok for a quick blast, but theres not much to it. NZS is great, but it has no continues and its REALLY hard, so it can be very frustrating.
I've also had a few other games that I got rid of over the year because they just werent my thing. California Games, Bonanza Bros, Rescue Mission and Formula Grand Prix (or something to that effect). The first two werent bad but not my games, the third felt a bit dated even though it was fairly interesting. The grand prix game just sucked though.

Re: Thoughts on my Master System Game List
Some 3D games have simple means of allowing you to play in 2D so that they are much more eye-friendly. For example, just pause Zaxxon 3D at the title screen to access a 2D option. Unfortunately, Maze Hunter 3D doesn't have a way to do this, but is easily my favorite of the 3D SMS games.Icedawg wrote:Breetai wrote:No mistakes. You have a VERY solid collection there!!! Re: Thoughts on my Master System Game List
I'll post my thoughts on each game as I get around to playing them. Right now on ebay there's a sonic 2 for the master system for only 20 + 5 shipping. I also plan on getting Mortal Kombat just because I think it's awesome to know it was released on a 8 bit home system. I'm probably going to just stick with the US region, the Master system has a region lock?
Also quick question about the durability about the Master System; if well taken care of & not abused can it last forever? Much in the same way as any of the Nintendo cartridge systems seem to work a very long time?
was thinking of getting a look like that done to one of my Master Systems (bought 2 just in case). It'd be $90 for the system and $25 for controllers. Just a thought, thanks for all the replies!
Oh one more quick question does anyone know where I can get the plastic covers for the games?

I'd say wonderboy was a standard for the SMS.
Take a look at this site, they have very useful information for SMS colectors.
