Also one of - if not my favorite console of all time.

I was thinking about picking up a slim just so I can hook it up to my CRT. I'd like to see the difference. I using s-video now on my HDTV, but some games look pretty bad.

Once I found that a couple game stores around me had a bunch of PS2 games on sale for $1 a piece, my PS2 collection has grown exponentially; embarrassingly enough, it just surpassed my Gamecube collection. And there are still PS2 games I want! I don't think I will ever stop collecting for the PS2.

I had the same problem. I lucked out on an eBay auction for mine, got it for about $180 with a handful of games (including Hokuto no Ken, which is one of the games I got the system for and can be real pricey). That's how I get most of my stuff though, just check eBay off and on for a good auction to keep an eye on. A lot of the time people are just looking to make some money quick and get rid of their stuff rather than get the max value out of it.

There are over 2000, actually.

Which would still be over a 1000. :)

I hate to say it but the PS2 is by far my least played system, just not that many games on it have really clicked for me. Although I've beaten all the games I own for it which I can't say for anything else I own, and it has lots of shmups.

That's fine. But I'm sure if you explore the PS2 library, you'll find plenty of games that you like or even love. Especially since our tastes can change over the years. I never thought I'd be playing it, but I'm right smack in the middle of MGS3 right now and loving it!

Considering that my all time favorite game is a PS2 game... me too. God Hand is all I need.
