I've got a European DSi XL, the 25th Anniversary model. I recently took some games away with me to play for the weekends. While I was away, I thought I saw something inside my DSi's cart slot, but figured it was just part of the inside and thought nothing of it. However, since then I've noticed that certain games are hanging on a white screen when I select them before the game actually loads for longer than what I'd presume is usual. This white screen is normal, I just haven't noticed it go on this long before.
The first time I put in The World Ends With You while I was away, which is a legitimate American cartridge I bought of Play-Asia, the DSi spat out some sort an error. Though without removing the cartridge, I reset the system and selected the game again, and I was able to load my game just fine with my save data still intact. However, before starting the game, it hangs on this white screen for at least three seconds. I find this very concerning, but I want to know if this is irregular or not?
I also have on hand Ghost Trick (US), Professor Layton 2 (Australian) and New Super Mario Bros. (UK). It seems that both Ghost Trick and TWEWY take considerably longer to load than the other two. Could it be because the game sizes are larger and take longer to load because of that? Or because there is some sort of verification with DS games from another region or from third parties?
Am I paranoid or is this something not unusual? I try to take very good care of my games but I'm worried that if something was inside my DSi's cart slot that it could have wrecked a couple of my games or even the DSi itself.
If somebody could get back to me on their own experience, that would be absolutely marvelous. I'm sorry for writing in such a run-on fashion. I hope the wall of text isn't to intimidating since I'd really appreciate some feedback.
Thanks in advance.

When you say long white screen loads, how many seconds are we talking about? I would suggest trying the cartridges in another DSi and comparing the two. Perhaps you could go to a gamestop and try it out on their system?

Oh right! Well, The World Ends With You was taking at least 3 seconds, as was Ghost Trick but closer to 2. As for Professor Layton, I think that took about 2 seconds and New Super Mario Bros. was only 1 or so. I should try to get some definite answers, I'll do that when I get a chance tomorrow.
As for a DSi, I'm the only person I know with one. I could try on my brother's DS though. Other than that, it's not really interfering with my enjoyment of the games. I'm playing through Ghost Trick at the moment (thanks, gtmtnbiker!).
If somebody who also has a DSi and the same games could try that out as well so we could perhaps compare load times for the initial boot (once I get some clearer numbers), then that would hopefully at least rule out something and put things into perspective.

Re: Long white screen loads before certain carts on DSi XL?
New Super Mario Bros is a small game so it would make sense that it would load quickly. I seem to recall some of my games (forget which ones) taking a bit longer on the white screen but never paid attention to the difference in times. So I think it's probably a function of the game size.
