You'd save a lot of money buying one with a broken belt then fixing it yourself.

Do you know of an easy solution to fixing the belt without ordering a replacement?

I did find somewhere on youtube (I think) of a guy who fixes them with a special type of 'rubber band'. I am sure there are other solutions.

Lukemorse would be his name. Pretty cool person. But he only shows you how to make the band, adjust the tension spring (usually never the problem), and install the band. I can't remember if he shows you how to align the spindle correctly when installing the new band, but it is critical.

He mentions nothing of fixing the magnetic head adjustment, which is hard to get set right if someone messed with it (they shouldn't have, it is almost never the problem).

Best solution would to adjust the motor speed, aka the pedometer with a flat head. The way I do it is to turn the motor all the way to the right (the slowest speed). Then turn tiny increments to the left.

Oh, I totally forgot that Luke did a video for that. It was a couple years ago, before he "moved" maybe?

I'll have to get into fixing FDS systems some day relatively soon.
