Re: EA or Activision...?
I haven't supported EA in any way since they bought out the NFL license in 2004... I frankly can't believe people just let that slide like they did -- easily one of the most contemptible things a video game company has ever done. I haven't supported Activision since the Tony Hawk franchise went downhill, mostly out of disinterest than anything, but nowadays I wouldn't support them even if they did come out with something interesting for the reasons stated previously in this thread.
If I was forced to choose between the two I would go with EA, but really, I hate them both an awful lot.

I voted EA because I like Bioware games and Mirror's Edge. Don't really like anything coming out by Activision.

Re: EA or Activision...?
My only problem with EA really is that they're sitting on classic franchises they acquired in all of their developer buyouts, especially PC ones, that they refuse to do anything with.
Re: EA or Activision...?
Can't stand COD. It's sucked since 4 and even then only COD2 was worth playing before that. I never bought either for the record.dsheinem wrote:The last Activision published game I bought was MW2. EA, on the other hand, gets much more of my business. They have had an excellent run this generation publishing Bioware stuff, and games in the Burnout/NFS series, Battlefield series, Dead Space series, etc.Niode wrote:I can't remember the last game I bought that was published by Activision. Possibly Guitar Hero 2?

Re: EA or Activision...?
Both companies are horrible and I almost never buy any of their games. The only exception would be the Need for Speed series from EA. However I bought those used, so I wasn't actually supporting them. (^_^)
It is very sickening how both of these miserable companies can actually manage to be extremely successful and popular amongst casual gamers. But then again, that's why they are successful. Casual gamers don't know what they are doing.
EA monopolized the NFL license and Activision merged with Blizzard. These companies need to go away and stop shitting all over the video game industry.
If you force me to choose which is the lesser of two evils, I will pick EA. >_> It's one thing for a company to be terrible but when they have to go and pull a great company like Blizzard down with them, it really upsets me. Activision/Blizzard is like a shiny gold bar with shit dripping down the side of it.

Ehh they both are pretty bad but EA went on an "about face" motion where they are doing fairly well in terms of steady stream of quality games and customer satisfaction. They funded the continuation of Mass Effect with 2, and later this year, 3. Dragon Age I never played but I heard good things. Also one of my favorite IPs were created this generation: Dead Space. That and the barrels of fun that is Battlefield, Need for Speed, and Medal of Honor provides, you can't go wrong.
Re: EA or Activision...?
They both suck for the most part, but I'd put EA above Activision easily.
Re: EA or Activision...?
Two companies with awesome legacies.
My most memorable games from each (not counting acquisitions) are from the same period: Jane's Combat: ATF from EA and MechWarrior 2 from Activision.
Huh... now that I think about it, those two titles have a lot in common. Including great printed manuals!
EDIT: I forgot to pick. I choose EA for Trip Hawkins's pure ballseyness and the 3DO gambit, but it's a close call.
