How much is a Famicom worth?

A guy on Craigslist is selling a Famicom, among many other systems, for $80. He said he had a few games that he would sell for $5 each, but that he'd so a package deal for me if I bought a few. I really have no idea if this is good or not.

It depends. How is the condition? Is it CIB? Considering that you do not have to pay an import/shipping fees, it might not be a bad deal.

It depends on the condition and if it's complete. If so, not a bad deal since it's local and won't require expensive shipping.

Another thing to ask is whether it is yellowed.

I bought one from a nice guy on these boards several months ago for only $35. It was lacking a power supply and a video cable but I was easily able to substitute a Genesis 1 power cable and a NES RF cable. It was yellowed but a retro brite solution I also found on these boards solved that. Great deal, message boards are your friend.

Assuming it's a model 1 and no box, I wouldn't pay $80 for it. That's more like ebay price.

Yeah that was the one, he had a whole mess of em. Some were in better shape than others but all of them were very reasonably priced. I was pretty happy with mine. He said the eject button was broke on mine but it works fine to me! Honestly buying from nice people from these message boards has saved me a lot of money instead of going to ebay.

Just eBay mark up prices. I've never been to one, but I'm pretty sure if you go to a game shop in Japan a Famicom is not any where near $80.

A good condition CIB one certainly is, if not more. A junky untested one with no cables is dirt cheap.
