Yeah, I know this - it is mentioned in the articlepakopako wrote:Actually, that is the huge irony.dsheinem wrote:game looks very promising...and if Turrican is its lineage I am interested! Too bad it is ridiculously priceyDoes it emulate well, considering how "advanced" it is?
It isn't advanced.
It is just remarkably well programmed. No special chips, add-ons, or anything else. It's like how BlueSky got hundreds of clours of the Genesis' limited palette due to shading tricks in Vectorman or how Treasure's Gunstar Heroes had all these rotating effects for its bigger-than-life bosses, or even how Drakkhen did fake polygons on the SNES. Just remarkable work-arounds.

Great article, I realized there is still a good chunk of the SNES RPG library I have yet to play.
I wonder if Rendering Ranger R2 would ever get a Virtual Console release seeing as how three of the Turrican games are on there.

Very good article, I saw everything I expected to see on there. Nice to see coverage of the MMX series and the use of the C4 chip

One of my pet peeves is using uncommon acronyms with defining them. The article used CGI which makes me think of http Common Gateway Interface. Doing a bit of googling, it seems that in animation, CGI is Computer Generated Imagery. So could someone edit the article to spell it out the first time it's used?

Spelling it out the first time IS a good idea. But really? You had never heard CGI before?gtmtnbiker wrote:One of my pet peeves is using uncommon acronyms with defining them. So have you asked your Mom/Dad what they think CGI means? Is it really that common?AppleQueso wrote: Yeah CGI is an insanely common acronym
I'm a software developer who has been developing code for 20+ years but it wasn't known to me other than the web variation (Common Gateway Interface).

Nobody's attacking you -- but I guess we are surprised you hadn't heard it because YES it is that common. I've heard MANY non-geeks use that term. It's often in reviews of Pixar movies or whatever without being spelled out.gtmtnbiker wrote:So have you asked your Mom/Dad what they think CGI means? Yeah most people I know used that term when describing computer generated special effects/movies.gtmtnbiker wrote:So have you asked your Mom/Dad what they think CGI means? Is it really that common?AppleQueso wrote: Yeah CGI is an insanely common acronym
