and I happen to have a Sony Wega HD Tube (with HDMI)
They are not really good for light-gun games, but for everything else, it simply doesn't get any better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You others can keep your LED sets, I would rather play a CRT ANYDAY!
artphotodude - Does the Dreamcast to HDMI work on your Sony HD CRT?

artphotodude and sevin0seven - Which model number do you own?

Mine is a Sony Wega HD CRT, model number KV-32HS500

Previous Discussion
Jamisonia posted pics and a review on page nine of my CRT vs LCD signature link.

Video Quality
Keep in mind converting a Composite, SVideo or Component feed to HDMI is not going to improve the picture quality of the source. Simply get a convertor if you need for instance SVideo if your HD doesn't have a SVideo input. There are expensive upscalers that will improve the signal quality somewhat, a viewers discretion at a price. Just don't expect a HD pic as in a BlueRay movie or current generation console.

Compatibility
I bought Jamisonia's VGA to HDMI adaptor because my Sony HD CRT doesn't have a VGA input. Unfortunately it does not work on my WEGA HD CRT. On the son's LCD HD it does work fine with a laptop but as expected his LCD doesn't support 640x480 resolution. So this is a great adaptor in the HD will support it.

VGA to HDMI on Dreamcast works FLAWLESSLY, and since the set also features native 480P, there is no scaling delay (great for fighting/shooting games). My Wega is the KV-34HS420.

Nice! A widescreen HD CRT. Looks slightly newer then my 4:3 HD CRT, maybe the reason why I can't get the VGA to HDMI convertor to work. I may still pursue the VGA to Component route.

A long shot, have you tried a Dreamcast Lightgun with that converted VGA to HDMI image?

Sadly NO Lightgun support (I am a big Virtua Cop 1&2 fan). Have to keep my old trueflat Panasonic for those occasional cravings.

Is kinda cool that the Wii doesn't actually need to 'see' the screen, as I just today, finally got all those stinking bottlecaps in Resident Evil 4! Can't wait to get some of the other shooting games for it.

Another beautiful HD. Since artphotodude's HD is a similar widescreen, a good chance the VGA to HDMI box will work on yours too.

Crap, unfortunately mine is a 4:3 HD CRT. Oh well, still happy having the square tube to avoid stretched image fat streetfighters.

thats weird that it won't work on CRTGamer's TV. Its because they won't accept 640x480 over HDMI?

I would have honestly taken a 4:3, if that was available, as most of the games I really enjoy are in that format, but this one just happened to come along for $110!!!

I am interested in picking up one of these converters. I have a Sony KD-34XBR960 which is just awesome with everything I throw at it.

A lot of current HDs won't support 640x480 even with a direct VGA input, something to check before a purchase. I was disappointed that my 4:3 HD CRT screen wouldn't work with the adaptor, even more surprised that the some Sony widescreen HD CRTs do. This is in light of 640x480 is normally a 4:3 image.

A great find at a good price. I am very lucky to get my Sony Wega 4:3 HD CRT, in my case bought brand new when HDs first hit the market. A widescreen HD CRT is uncommon, a 4:3 HD CRT is even more rare.
