I played this game at my cousin's house, and found it pretty enjoyable. I wasn't prepared for the complete overhaul in design, which was a little disappointing for me as I loved the original. The lack of new (really good) music also disappointed me a little. I thought that the gameplay was very solid, and the difficulty didn't bother me too much (of course, we were only on world 6).

I suppose I was just hoping for a game that greatly resembled the original trilogy, which might have been unfair of me. Regardless of that, the gameplay was great and I enjoyed playing through the game. I would have loved to support it, but I'm too cheap to buy games new.

Really? I actually thought that this felt a heck of a lot like Donkey Kong Country pesonally. I thought it hit the nostolgia note perfect.

I want to play this game so badly. It's at the top of my game wishlist. Unfortunately I'm a cheap SOB and I have a problem paying for games above $30. Oh but when my tax return gets here...

The game's nostalgic in that cheap sort of way. It's difficulty level is on part with many NES era games. There is TONS of trial and error, especially in the mine cart levels. It may be my age, but I am starting to tire of trial and error and memorization in my games. I found this exact same type of design frustrating me with the Punch Out game on the Wii. Just seems like lazy design and I feel no REAL sense of reward when I overcome a challenge in a game simply because I have memorized everything that is going to happen after dying several times. I would much prefer a game genuinely test my skills and ability to think through a situation rather than screwing me with bottomless pits or enemies appearing out of nowhere and hurting or killing me(Donkey Kong Country Returns) or attacks and patterns I have no way of avoiding the first time(as in Punch Out)

The game is not like Donkey Kong Country at all. None of the cool water levels, a less impressive soundtrack, no K Rool and his lackeys, you rarely get to ride animals, Diddy Kong went from playable character to "power up", collectibles are not as well hidden and the overall difficulty level of the game is MUCH higher

I think anyone looking for a solid platformer with a high level of challenge will enjoy the game, but it doesn't FEEL like a Donkey Kong Country game. You can tell it was't the same people involved in making it.

I like it, but was at the same time dissapointed with it. Sorry if my post came off as a little ranty. I sort of had a bad day

Well it could be that I haven't played the original since it came out...also I am only on like level 3-1 or something on the new one, so I may not have gotten to any of the frustrating memorization parts you're talking about.

My copy from Amazon (on sale for $34.99) should be here today, so I'm looking forward to playing it. I have spent way too much time on the DKC games for SNES.
