Re: Sonic 10th anniversary crappy edition
that's a blurry region
it looks like a half way painted 'employee edition' of the sonic 10th anniversary... but those were jap models (the label on this one is PAL at 220v). But the guys description has an explanation for it...
so it's a 'in production' one???
That's a bit... blargh.
Also on the bottom side it looks like a shotty paint job, I can see a finger print in the blue paint, and the rubber feet seem to have some paint on them as well. This could be so if it was a prototype or something, like the artist was demoing what it would look like.. but then again anyone from Sega Europe who would do this would know you would dismantle the dreamcast and paint it with that way... and remove the rubber feet!
So yeah... I call either bullshit. Or if not, some guy who worked for Sega of Europe and saw the Jap models, liked em', started to paint his own, gave up, gave it away, and now this guy is trying to profit on it, while still technically telling the truth in his description.

Re: Sonic 10th anniversary crappy edition
I didn't know they had a PAL model... I've seen the same paint job before (well images that is) in JAP model.
good to know.

Re: Sonic 10th anniversary crappy edition
Hi fellas - you've got me wondering now, a couple of days ago it was a just a slightly funky dreamcast sitting in a box in my loft!
I've left a voicemail with the guy from Sega Europe who gave it to me and I hope I can give you a believable explanation soon.
I was under the impression at the time all the Euro 10th Anniversary DCs were painted somewhere in Europe (including this one), and I agree, the paint job is not great, but it's not as bad a it looks in my photos (maybe I should've polished it a bit). Along with painted rubber feet and finger smudge cock-ups, I'm not sure if it's noticeable but all the stickers on the rear were pealed off and replaced after the painting process, it looks very shoddy but my guess is that they were all done that way.
My guess is that it was a reject paint job (finger smudge) that wasn't worthy of going to the next stage. However, I assure you it came directly to me from Sega Europe's offices in the exact painted state it is in now, during the same week that all the other European Sonic 10th LE's were given away to employees and competition winners etc. It wasn't a big deal at the time, I was told by my client at Sega that he'd get me the full version, but when it came to it they'd ran out, and I got this one instead. I really can't believe he or anybody else at Sega got it half-painted in the same colour because they found a spare controller just lying around the office.

Re: Sonic 10th anniversary crappy edition
It looks pretty fake... There's even a peeled off sticker on the bottom.
