Woohoo!
Got one! Nice, black colored one too. Since my gaming room already has the PS 3 and the 360 hooked up to the HD flatscreen, I hooked it up to the standard tv in the family room. I figure there's no reason for me to hook it up to a high def set anyway, and in the family room it can be used by guests(since the Wii seems to be the system that the casuals and non-gamers love the most)
I bought Donkey Kong Country Returns and played through the first stage. The whole thing feels right. This is how you redo a classic(Sonic 4 is how you DON'T do it). I then popped in Sin and Punishment 2, which was collecting dust for a while since I didn't actually own a Wii to play it on. Very, very cool. Even with the new Wii style controls it still feels like the original.
EDIT: I know own all current gen systems, including portables. That's like some kind of collecting goal right here. Awesome!
Any cool, Wii exclusive digital download games I should check out?

If you like retro styled games, you can't go wrong with Arkanoid plus.

Castlevania The Adventure ReBirth is a must, not the best traditional Castlevania but its still a lot of fun and the graphics looks very nice.

The Art Style series is great. Swords and Solders is really fun too. World of Goo and Cave Story too, although those are on PC aswell. The Bit.Trip series is also pretty fun, and very challenging.

Oh, there are the rebirth series with Contra, Castlevania, and Gradius. There is also Excitebike: world rally, the bit.trip.games, and world of goo. Before I forget, get And it it moves and Cave story.

I think the Wii has the greatest wealth of games that are "old school" either in terms of style (abundant on WiiWare) or even just "spiritually" (Sonic Colors, Sin & Punishment, DKCR, the Mario games, etc.) People can talk trash all they want about how gamers don't play Wii, but a modern retro gamer seriously shouldn't be without one

That's definitely on my to do list. I really love the Klonoa gamesBradtemple87 wrote:Klonoa remake
Donkey Kong Country Returns seems to pull off that old school feel perfectly. I feel like I am playing the original DKC on my SNES, but with some sweet new gameplay ideas and graphical tricks. I love how the controller puts out the sound effects in the game. Something very cool about that, even if it's a bit gimmicky.flamepanther wrote:I think the Wii has the greatest wealth of games that are "old school" either in terms of style (abundant on WiiWare) or even just "spiritually" (Sonic Colors, Sin & Punishment, DKCR, the Mario games, etc.) People can talk trash all they want about how gamers don't play Wii, but a modern retro gamer seriously shouldn't be without one
I really love platformers like this and the Wii seems have a pretty good platform library so I think I'm going to have some fun
