I was not sure where to post this, so with it being a Sega Genesis game I thought this would be a good start. If I am wrong in posting it here or double posting. feel free to redirect me.
I have been playing Phantasy Star 2 but I am wondering how the experience is spread throughout the party. Does every member get the full amount or is it divided? If it is divided, does anyone know how?
I have been grinding levels and don't like that I have to go back to the save place to see how far I have progressed. I would like to track it as I go along. It is my first time playing through this game and I don't have the manual that came with the game originally. I could use any suggestions and advice you guys have.

Re: Phantasy Star 2
I'm pretty sure it's divided equally among the party members. It is a very grindy RPG, without a lot of conveniences. Honestly, I'd suggest just doing something else while you grind. The battles pretty much fight themselves, so it takes minimal attention. Hang out on IRC or something, and the time will pass a lot quicker. It does have a really cool story, which is the reason why it's still considered a classic.
You will want to consult a FAQ for instructions on how to get the Visiphone. Everything else in the game should be completable without hints.

Re: Phantasy Star 2
You know, I absolutely love Phantasy Star IV (really need to get round to buying a real copy of that), but I just can't get into Phantasy Star II at all. I've had the game for about 5-10 years now, and have barely played it. Every so often, I get it out and try to get into it, but I always end up bored...

Re: Phantasy Star 2
Thank you for the suggestions! I definitely do play Phantasy Star 2 while doing other things. I usually have a movie on in the background or watch TV. I have even played it while on the phone.
I will check out how to get the visiphone.
To be honest, when I first started playing this I was really bored, but then it grew on me. Especially when I found out I was getting the water scooter. (Awesome!) I really want to get through this because I have heard a lot about the storyline being good. I am sure it has a big fan base for a reason.
I do want to check out Phantasy Star IV. I have heard from many players of the series that it was by far, their favorite. I saw it at my gaming store but they wanted a lot for it I think. May check ebay for a better price.
I appreciate all of you for helping. I may be posting here again if I have any problems.
Brownies for all of you.

If you really like these old school rpg games you should definitely sit down and try them one day. I did not play the first one on the master system, but I did download the rom. I watched a friend play through it once so I already know the story and from watching him I know the first one is pretty tedious.brainofjtd wrote:This reminds me I have the Phantasy Star collection for GBA. It is cool to get to play one that is not fantasy themed. Don't get me wrong I love fantasy, but change is good sometimes.

Good luck with Uzo Island. It's been about 20 years since the last time I was there and I still remember it being extremely tough.PixelPixii wrote:The visiphone has changed my life! Thanks Guys! Trying to get through Uzo Island now.
Do you have a copy of the handbook that came with the game originally?

I found a pdf of the hintbook that someone scanned and uploaded onto the forums. It is kinda hard to see.It is my first time playing through this game and I don't have the manual that came with the game originally.
I spent a couple of hours last night on Uzo before I finally pulled up that pdf to try to figure out where I was and where to go. Pisses me off when I get lost like that. I want to try to play this with the least amount of outside help as possible. Don't know that I have the skills but I am trying.
