Why did you make this thread and ask for advice if you were just going to open it anyway?
I've owned both versions before and could have parroted exactly what others here have said; the dialogue and level up screens are all in Japanese.

It's still great fun without understanding the language, but of course you will get more out of it if you can read and understand...
I haven't opened it and don't plan on opening it. When it arrived I noticed all the stills on the backart appeared to be in english. So, depending on what I heard back, I would (a) open this and play it, (b) find another complete JP copy of this, have one open/play copy, and still keep this sealed. In which case (2 JP copies), it'd still be cheaper than a US copy.
My best friend is like that. Kind of a cross between OCD and extreme anxiety in his case. If he just "feels" that something is wrong in his house, he HAS to go back to double check things; however silly it seems to everyone else. He has medication for it, which helps him a lot.
Yeah, I said this partly tongue-in-cheek, half-assed sarcastic, because racket isn't the place to really air our illnesses, but yeah, I do have it and it is really frustrating, especially when YOU KNOW you have it and YOU KNOW it isn't normal. My worst one is volume on televisions. It has to be on an even number or I can't concentrate and I just get really nervous something bad will happen. Even in a restaurant, I will walk up to the TV and turn it to an even number.

I owned the English version of Guardian Heroes for a while.

If I could go back and do it over again, I'd get the Japanese one. The story is ludicrous and impossible to buy into. The dialog is lame and long-winded and has no real bearing on the gameplay.

Make sure you play with a friend. The game is 30x more fun that way.

I think he's trying to ascertain whether it is worth his time to keep the Jp version sealed and get the US version.
Oh, you're right. I completely misread his last post!

Well, I guess he knows now that the game is ONLY in Japanese. As fun as it is, he'll still need the US version to get everything out of it. Still, I do agree with Anayo in that English is NOT necessary to have a ton of fun with this game. It is very playable in Japanese if you do not understand the language. At its heart, it's a fun beat-em-up.

Yeah, sorry about that. Sometimes I misread things. I am a bit drunk to be honest. :P

I took you pretty seriously, to be honest. I think I'm slightly OC. For example, if I turn left twice when walking, then I like to make my next two turns right to keep it even. I've actually spun around in a circle before just to even things out! I could talk about mental illnesses with people close to me more, but I'd rather keep the rest to PMs if you really want to go there.

That is a good thing about Racketboy though; you can talk about this stuff without worry about people being pricks about it. It's a fairly mature forum, but not mature enough to be pompous. I'm probably one of the worst ones here for that. :D
