My buddy and I were reminiscing about being kids and having a pair of these in 6th grade. We'd actually text message each other in class with these before texting was actually a staple of modern society.
Anybody else own one of these little gizmos?

I remember seeing an add for these in a magazine and thinking they were so cool. I think the advertisement mentioned something about using them as a messaging system throughout your house so your mom wouldn't have to yell at you to come to dinner.
got in brand new, used it to keep all info in it before i got a cellphone.
These were actually made by Casio. it was Sega branded.
it could also exchange text messages over IR with any other casio device that looked just like it, with the same IR (infra red) port. There was a pink girl version that was just casio branded, very similar, but no built in game like the sega version had.

Thanks for the info - this brings me back..
Didn't know that it sent IR message to any Casio w/ the same IR port..
Safe to assume, then, that the Sega brand and pink Casio could communicate with each other?

Yes, it could exchange messages with the pink one.
Also, the included game was simple but fun in my opinion. It was a battle game where you would fight with ESP/mind powers, and your attack power determined by a slot machine type of selection before each attack. It has 5 levels i believe.
I'm may have to put some batteries in mine just to play it again!
