Ultimate Match is the ps2 upgraded version. Dream Match is just the subtitle of the original game.

???neo geo was capable of doing 3d? Dream match had 3d backdrops.

Well KoF'98 had that "Dream Match Never Ends" tag which is where Dream Match '99 (the DC port of KoF98, with the 3D backgrounds) got its name.

Guess there's some confusion there.

I think Dream Match is more or less an enhanced port of the original KOF98, while Ultimate Match is the upgraded version. There are a total of three variations of KOF.

There are multiple releases of KOF 98 which are different and have balance corrections and a expanded roster
